Dogs obviously lick some rather unpleasant substances- but their saliva is also an antiseptic.

A couple of times Lily has licked the baby's face (I was not quick enough to stop her) but she was all okay - no illness. Builds up the immune system, thats what I say.
That is exactly what the health visitor said to me when my eldest was a baby, she told me better to build up the immunity to a dog that you knew was wormed etc than have a strange dog lick her with no immunity at all !!!!

If you have ever met a Flatcoated Retriever you would know they are No 1.

Our old GSD Beethoven was a very licky dog he had to lick all the time.

Last weekend we had 2 whippets lodging for the weekend and one of them was a big licker. Our old whippet Jasper loves to lick my OH's feet god only knows why but he loves to do it.

Dixie's tongue sometimes has a mad half hour. Lol
I ask for a kiss and she will. I encourage her not to lick unless asked. Sometimes she can't help it tho. Lol

She will kiss when you tell her ''go get dad'' to wake him up, or u can say ''give dad a kiss'' an she will go kiss him. She even kiss other dogs if u ask her to! lol

I always wear socks and so when Oscar sees my bare feet, he goes mad and tries to lick them. It tickles!

I taught him "kiss" too.
