Re: Microchip or not?

Hi,

Id HAVE to say for sure ahve microchip done. Reason being, if your dog were to "escape" or end up with local authority, if u dont have it microchipped they DEFINITELY are heading for being put to sleep!! Sad Iknow, but at least if they are chipped you will know they are being chased by the death squad.

I know someone thru a rescue who does chipping at home for £15.00 if anyone needs the info.

So many questions
The chances are that your dog will not feel the needle, the majority do not.

I would STRONGLY advise getting any dog microchipped, since if lost, your dog will be reunited with you in double quick time. Don't take the chance

Yes - and he is a terrier - some like to dig their way out but if you are lucky he won't!!

Re: Microchip or not?

We had Holly chipped when she had her second vaccination with the vet.
She yelped like I have never heard before. It wasn't very nice to listen too, but I got the nurse to hold her while they did it.

It was over and done with in seconds.

I think if it increases the chances of them being returned to you if they get lost then it is worth it. I would devastated if Holly went missing or lost.

For the cost of it (cost us about £16) I think it is well worth it.

Re: Microchip or not?

I had Dillon Micro chipped and the benefits are brilliant.

Ever night when we come home from our walk/run/cycle, I turn the computer on and he always comes and sits by my side. I then put a USB cable up his bum and plug him into the computer.
Once the computer has picked up the new hardware device I am able to log into my system and see exactly what is going on with him:

Heart rate:
> Daily average
> Daily Max
> Daily min
> Weekly, monthly and yearly stats.
> How it changes when he sees me.

Breathe depth:
> Consistency.
> Max intake.
> Breaths per minute average.

Bodily Function Stats:
> Liver mass, capacity and efficiency.
> Kidney balance, capacity and efficiency.
> Lower intestine length, average capacity and throughput.
> Large intestine length, average capacity and throughput.
> Ear balance and noise sensitivity.
> Nose sensitivity, dampness and temperature.
> Hydration levels.
> Nutritional deficiency.
> Muscle mass, functionality and efficiency.
> Faeces consistency, odour and regularity.
> Urine PH level, hormone balance and regularity.

Thought Analysis:
> Regularity of food though.
> Regularity of hydration thought.
> Regularity of hunting cats thought.
> Regularity of REM during sleep.
> Regularity of where owner is.
> Personal opinion of life.
> Personal opinion of owner.
> Personal opinion of self.
> Personal opinion of other individual dog’s bottom odour.
> Attraction to individual dogs.

I can also track him 24/7 with a full GPS system and if he does encounter an emergency he just licks his bottom three times and a full response team will triangulate his position and be on the scene in 30mins max with full emergency dog treats and chews.

As for when he had the “operation” to have the chip installed it was a shock. The needle was approximately 1.4 metres in length and 8cm in circumference (knitting needle size). Initially he panicked like hell and drew blood from every attending person in the operating theatre. The only way we could subdue him was to pepper spray him and then use a 100,000v stun gun in 5sec intervals throughout the operation.
During the operation I have never seen so much blood in all my life eek: and didn’t know that vets kept so many bags for transfusion on site at any one time. The NHS could learn a thing or two.

It was all over in a few days and he’s been no different since. I highly recommend you get your pets micro chipped for your own peace of mind.

Re: Microchip or not?

It used to be a RS232 serial cable but I got him a new motherboard with increase chip set for processing power. Now it's a USB port.

He did used to find sitting uncomfortable after diagnosis with the old cable.
