Re: Puppy Training Books
There are zillions of books out there - what breed are you planning on getting - have you had any 'dog' experience before. Hasving said that the basic rules are pretty much the same - you would treat a pup as you would an eighteen month old child NO means no - have a firm set of rules (so as not to confuse) and be consistant.
Some dogs are far easier to train then others - no two are the same - give us some idea on yourself and the pup you re planning and i'm sure you'll get advise. socializing is one of the most important parts of dog training - you don't need a book for this regards DT |

Re: Puppy Training Books
I'm 25 and thinking of getting a German shepherd or a staffordshire bull terrier. I have personally never kept a dog before but most of my aunts and uncles have got one so i have a little bit of experience from there dogs.

Re: Puppy Training Books
Personally, I think Gwen Bailey's A Perfect Puppy is a great book for new puppy owners.
Lots of useful advice on every aspect of your puppies first year. Also has a useful checklist for socialisation at the back. |
