For nearly two months now my dog has started to have seizures and I have been to the vet twice and she may need to have an MRI, which is costly but she is worth it. Does anybody here have this problem with their dog, and if so how are you managing with it?

Re: Jingi my toy pom has seizures
i have had a dog with epilepsy before and it was awful.. as the years went on the fits went from being one every few months to one or two a year. we were given tablets by the vets but all they did was put him back into a fit! we just helf him and told him it was going to be ok..

Question, Were you nervous to leave your baby alone, in fear that they would have a seizure? I know it is a stupid question, but i am so terrified that she may choke to death ![]() |

Re: Jingi my toy pom has seizures
they were really never alone as my mum stopped working when she had me so someone was always there when it started and about 6 years ago my dad fell ill and had to retire so after he got better there were two of them there to look after him. But the fits were so rare and he did not shake, just sized up and colapsed legs in all difections so i am glad he was never alone. I can see how you would be worryd tho, keeping a diary of all the fits would be a good idea and you could notice a trigger or pattern?

Re: Jingi my toy pom has seizures
well i would not like to influence your decision on it as i would be very upset if something happend to your dog if you took it off them, if it dose not have a problem on them and you think it is helping with the fits then keep it going. but out dog lived untill it had a growth on its splein so it wasnt the fits that killed it. He lives for many years with it.
