Unhappy Jingi my toy pom has seizures

For nearly two months now my dog has started to have seizures and I have been to the vet twice and she may need to have an MRI, which is costly but she is worth it. Does anybody here have this problem with their dog, and if so how are you managing with it?

Thank you, because it is so scary when I see her keel over and shaking then foaming at the mouth. I just hold her up in my arms to comfort her, and prevent her from choking to death. She has been at the vets twice already and is going back again on Jan26TH/09. Very concerned, she well probably need a MRI, very expansive but I would do anything to help her.

Last week after just being on the meds for nearly two months, she had two seizures in the morning, once at 6:50am/10:30am, just nighmarish! I am so worried about the wee baby, in fact she went from just being 4.7 pounds to 5.7 pounds in just two months as a result of her med's!

eek do the meds have any side effects? the ones Bobby was given could cause kidney failure, another reason we did not give them.

Yes they did cause her to gain weight, we are on less harmful med, than the ones you were going to have to use.

Question, Were you nervous to leave your baby alone, in fear that they would have a seizure? I know it is a stupid question, but i am so terrified that she may choke to death

Re: Jingi my toy pom has seizures

they were really never alone as my mum stopped working when she had me so someone was always there when it started and about 6 years ago my dad fell ill and had to retire so after he got better there were two of them there to look after him. But the fits were so rare and he did not shake, just sized up and colapsed legs in all difections so i am glad he was never alone. I can see how you would be worryd tho, keeping a diary of all the fits would be a good idea and you could notice a trigger or pattern?

I have already started one, and she is okay for now, do they live long if I decide not to give her the meds?

Re: Jingi my toy pom has seizures

well i would not like to influence your decision on it as i would be very upset if something happend to your dog if you took it off them, if it dose not have a problem on them and you think it is helping with the fits then keep it going. but out dog lived untill it had a growth on its splein so it wasnt the fits that killed it. He lives for many years with it.
