Re: Urgent Advice Needed

A few pics of Marty. She had another mild heart attack on Sunday, this was when walking her for only half a mile. She recovers amazingly quickly but it does look as though we'll have to be very careful with her.

This pic was taken the day we found her. She wasn't able to stand and could barely lift her head.

These were taken yesterday. You can see the effect on her tongue of Distemper, she still manages to eat heartitly though.

Re: Urgent Advice Needed

What a great person you are for taking on a dog that others would have walked away from.
You sound really attached to it and im sure whatever you do will be in the interests of the dog.

I was wondering if maybe instead of a kennel you could put a shed out there and then it could have a heater if your worried.

Re: Urgent Advice Needed

She's such a sweet looking dog, and look how much she's come on - you must be relieved and proud.

Sorry to hear that she keeps suffering heart attacks, has the vet given you any idea of whether her heart will ever strengthen?

The house I'm in is rented but I'm moving into a house I've bought in a couple of months, I'll be sectioning off a big part of the garden in the new place and building a warmer, more suitable kennel for her then. For the moment I've made sure she's warm enough.

Unfortunately the vet says her heart will always be weak and there's nothing we can do to improve things. This means we can't over exert or over excite her, which is terrible because we won't be able to exercise her or take her out. This worries me because she won't have much of a life confined to the garden, so I'm now thinking of getting another dog to keep her company. There's a rescue centre here, run by fantastic people who never turn an animal away, and they always have dogs that no one wants.

Re: Urgent Advice Needed

Bless you, she's lucky now to have found such a caring person and home.
All the best Sh xx
