Thundershirts

I know this has been done a million times before but it all seems a bit too good to be true...are they as good as they look and sound, I want positive and negatives.
As many of you know Bos has excitablilty issues, he seems to go into this zone and theres no getting him down from there. Hubby has commented a couple of times that Bos seems calmer when he has his fleece jumper on, so I was wondering if a Thundershirt would help, if a standard fleece has a slight improvement.
Also once using a Thundershirt do you always have to use it or do you work towards not using it at all?

Re: Thundershirts

I'm intending to use Tink's as a temporary thing. In the hope that is she experiences walks in a less nervous and hypervigilant way she'll have more and more positive experiences and can be weaned off. But i'll see how it goes.

By the way, the cheapest I found them was on amazon, just in case you do decide to try one.

Thank you, I'd rather have a realistic idea about them rather than expecting miracles, and it not been like that.

Its fine hi-jack away.

According to the Thudershirt website it can help with excitablility and reactivity in a training enviroment.

Re: Thundershirts

there is a distinct difference to lola when she is wearing her shirt. She wears it most of the time to be honest especially when Walt is around because it calms her down. I really wanted it to calm her down when out on walks but that hasn't been so successful it doesn't seem to have a great effect she still barks at other dogs. It definitely round the house calms her down though. She used to constantly be barking at people walking past outside and now she rarely makes a sound! it also has calmed her down in the back of the car although she will still bark at dogs and bikes that we pass if she is looking out.

Re: Thundershirts

I would say...give it a go i'm thinking along the same as Moonviolet..,,i don't really want Mavis to have to wear hers in the summer ...might actually try chesters on him for dog classes myself...he is very reactive to the other dogs...

sometimes Chester would get really hyper and the only thing that would calm him down was if i got hold of him and hugged him really tight then he would fall asleep...same idea as the thundershirt i suppose
