Doggy Daycare experiences?

I have been thinking about taking Dizzy to doggy daycare once a week. I would like her to socialise with other dogs a bit more (she goes to training class once a week and the odd dog on walks) but I don't know much about it, i just wondered if you could let me know your experiences. There is a local person that does daycare and dog walking etc who I am going to contact and have a chat with but just wondered what I should expect.

Re: Doggy Daycare experiences?

Ours go and love it....but it is a carefully run place with qualified and attentive staff...you can call in and watch any time and I know them really well now, might even say they were friends. The dogs love the staff and love going and have met many many more dogs than they would sitting at home waiting for a dog walker. Another reason we chose it is the total absence of decent dog walkers in my area. We did have the option of one who was trustworthy in a be-allowed-in-my-house kind of sense...but I wouldn't have trusted her to take the dogs out of the garden never mind on a walk, so she was a bit useless.

So I would say...they can be great but really check them out carefully. A lot are people with no clue trying to make money easily. I would expect them to be constantly supervised when together, I would expect appropriate staff to dog ratios, I would expect staff with an appropriate level of knowledge about dogs, and really I would expect them to be qualified for the job they are undertaking. I would also expect them to be insured and to be able to call in at any time to see what was taking place.
