Re: Taking a puppy home

Yes this is the first dog I've bought and we may have been a bit naive is we know both sets of breeders. Sorry if I came across rude it wasn't my intention at all

Re: Taking a puppy home

If I was you I would get a vet check before you accept the dog, and find out what tests the parents have had done prior to breeding. Again your best place to go is the vet you plan on using.

Good luck

Re: Taking a puppy home

I'm not sure if you've made enough posts on here to pm, but if you want to email me pedigree names of dam and sire, my email is joanne@tarimoorart.co.uk - I will give you my honest opinion as if it were me looking for a pup.

Edited to add, if you take a look at this website it will explain the health tests available for Labradors and how they are used, it also has some stories about pups bought without people doing enough research beforehand, and what happened to them:

http://www.lab-health.co.uk/

The site was set up by Swarthy who's a member on here, and a mutual friend, Wendy, who, on the website, bought Charlie at six weeks of age out of the small ads, from someone who seemed very nice at the time, only to find out later the hard way, this was the wrong way to go about buying a pup. Swarthy has an extensive database of Labradors and health test results, and would be one of the first people I'd turn to for researching pedigrees
