Claiming for death by accident

Hi everyone,

Looking for a bit of advice. We had a terrible tragedy when our 7 month border collie was hit by a train and died. We've been devastated by the death, he was such a loveable puppy. We've been told that we can claim on our insurance under Death by Accident, however when I downloaded the claim forms the vet has to fill it in and stamp it. Because the accident happened close to home and he died instantly my husband buried him so we didn't go to the vets. Does anyone have any advice on how to go about claiming. In time we'd like to get another puppy and the money would be helpful for his jags etc.

We had the PDSA 3000 plan.

Thanks in advance

I'm so sorry for your loss, I think you would need proof from a vet, saying it's your dog and confirming the reason of death.

May I ask how your puppy got hit by a train.

Thanks catseyes, it's been horrific and I've been in tears every day for 3 weeks. I know people on this forum will understand the feeling, I used it a lot when we first got him.

The photo of your lovely pooch did cheer me up a bit though x

Re: Claiming for death by accident

No advice I'm afraid other than contact the insurance company. Was there any witnesses that could write a statement for the insurance company?

We are all so sorry for your loss what a terrible incident sending hugs and clobber slobber x

Re: Claiming for death by accident

Sorry for your loss it must be terrible to loose a puppy in such a tragic way.

If it was me I would contact the insurance company and explain the circumstances and find out exactly what they need. If they do insist on a letter from your vet, then I would contact your vet explain what has happened . they may be able to put something in writing that would help
