Re: Sammy's Attack Update
Not read the other thread about Sammy getting attacked, sorry to hear that, hope you an Sammy are OK !
I would love to suggest reporting it and getting a muzzle order in place if possible... but as you will see from metaldogs incident and reports.... some people wont take on board the seriousness of a call from the police regarding their dog or a muzzle order anyway and no matter what you do, it may all be in vain!BUT atleast you can say, I tried, rather than regret not saying anything and feeling part to blame for not letting the authorities know about a numpty owner in the area. I can understand you not wanting to report the dog incase the dog has to pay with its life, just for having a careless owner, but an innocent dog/person might suffer even more serious wounds should you decide the dogs life needs to be spared. Should the dog attack again tho, the next victim might demand the dog be put to sleep and not be as understanding as you who might just want the dog muzzled. Dont envy you for being in this position ! |

Re: Sammy's Attack Update
Oh five I don't know how I missed the thread about Sammy being attacked and I'm glad he's okay now. It's such a pain having dogs that look like they're up for it, you know what I've said before
and poor lil Sammy has been in a similar position before hasn't he through no fault of his own.Tell you what if a dog did that to one of mine and also bit me I'd tell the friggin police and wouldn't give too hoots about it being PTS. The owner should have it under proper control and if he can't then it should be muzzled. Don't know if you saw my thread the other day about Flynn and his DA towards a dog that was barking and lunging at him. Well I was terrified he would get to it and harm it or accidentally bite the owner in his frenzy, he was wild at this dog and very scary for me, him being 58kgs and me 51kgs. Now I have decided to muzzle him cos although he is not usually like that if he bites a person and they want him PTS what would I do? Muzzles and DA dogs - question? You take on the responsibility of a dog and all that goes with it and if you can't control it them you have to take measures to safeguard, others, yourself and your dog. If that guy can't then he shouldn't have the dog at all! For future reference in a dog fight that won't let go: Get the dogs back legs and lift them off the ground, it will very soon let go. When it has let go walk it backwards, still holding the back legs off the ground in an arc. This stops it gaining purchase on the ground and going back after the dog. Pulling a dog won't make it let go it will hold on all the more. This was an article in Dogs Today magazine last year.

Re: Sammy's Attack Update
If you report the dog to the police it is very unlikely they will have it destroyed..
Another course of Action.. Not something I advise but went through my crazy head.. If everyone on your park is having probs.. Then I would go out without the dog take my lead and next time you see it hitch the dog up and tell the owner you are taking the dog to the police unless he muzzles it.. And keeps it under control so no one else has to go through what you and Sammy did..

Re: Sammy's Attack Update
Or video it on your phone so as you have proof it is a nuisance.
