Might I suggest that this Staff of yours is misunderstood because of the colour of his fur, wow racism in the doggie world who knew ???

Your dog only knows how to be a dog - love him for the dog he is and do not judge him for the colour of his fur.

Although the fact that others will not judge him for his fur causes you angst on the path to the show-ring.

Re: Blue diluted black?

Yes, blue is black with 2 copies of the recessive dilution gene. Some dogs can have dilute alopecia and breeding for colour can cause faults, but if breed properly they shouldn't have any problems. I have a blue Border Collie and also her daughter, who is a lilac Border Collie (dilute of the red, so 2 copies of the recessive red gene and 2 copies of the recessive dilute gene).
