Please take notice - important

PLEASE TAKE NOTICE...just realised i have been forking money out to the insurance i did not think i had because these people take money out of the bank account automatically charging whatever they feel like for renewal.... please check your bank account!

If the situation is not satisfactory sorted i will name and shame the insurance for such practice...

and if they tell you that it is written in the small prints...take into consideration that some of such small print are ILLEGAL
will keep you posted

best

This is why I NEVER set up direct debits for policies like this. I pay once up front at the begining of the policy then no need to worry about anything else going from the account over the next year.

Sorry if I read your post incorrectly, but it is your responsibility to cancel DD's if you no longer require a service etc.

They will have sent you a renewal notice (every insurance has to by law) stating the new renewal price as £x with a statement along the lines of "if you are happy with this price then you do not need to change anything, the policy will automatically renew on the date shown".

Re: Please take notice - important

I've just had a couple of renewal notices clearly stating the cost of the premium, I've also just changed my car insurance.

I always go online and make sure that any DD's that are no longer needed are cancelled so the insurance companies cannot take any more than they should.

Re: Please take notice - important

I get a letter or email with all of the new policy information on, including the new price of the insurance each month

Re: Please take notice - important

yes,
i get what you are saying about renewal...but if the terms and conditions change (i.e the premium), then you need to agree to the new one personally... it works like this with all my other insurance (cars, motorbike, house building and content but not with the insurance at hand) i am double-checking with a solicitor on the matter.
in the meanwhile they have skimmed almost 500£ from my bank account and i have paid for the vet expenses from my dogs' fund...(knowing that i did not have insurance)...

not nice really!

cheers

Re: Please take notice - important

Was it a Direct Debit, if so they must send you notification when they are collecting the money and how much. If they have broken those terms then contact your bank to claim the money back as they have broken the Direct Debit Code. If they did send you the information then really you don't have much comeback.

Re: Please take notice - important

If i get a new pet insurance policy they start to take the new sum of money out a month after i receive my letter/email informing me of the changes! I don't confirm it....they only stop taking money out of your bank if you phone up and tell them that you are not happy with the new price and cancel your policy or stop your direct debit.
This has happened for two of my dogs who were insured with different companies, so it must be normal for pet insurance!
I generally check my bank online weekly to check my balance and keep track of what i'm spending.
