Harness...

I'm looking to swap Astro into a harness as I feel he is starting to pull to much in the collar, and I am worried about his throat. We are working on the pulling to ensure this stops; however, I doubt he will be perfect but we can try and help

I am just wondering for people who use harnesses what type of harness do you use, and why?

Any help would be much appreciated

Re: Harness...

Re: Harness...

Do you want an anti-pull harness, or just a bog standard one?

Re: Harness...

how old is he? if he is still young you will want an adjustable one rather than a fixed sized one as he'll grow out of it quickly. I wouldnt buy anything from P@H etc personally, they are not made with the strength of sled dogs in mind!

check out mine: Indi-Dog Made to Order Collars and More

or there's snowpawstore, country hounds & culpeppers, not sure if they do adjustable walking harnesses though

Re: Harness...

I want to get him one that can be adjusted as he will be growing a lot; however, I am not fussed about buying a lot of them as I do that with collars lol.

He will be 17 weeks tomorrow I don't want to buy an anti-pulling one the now as I hope we can reduce his pulling so a standard one to begin with I feel would be best.

sid&kira - Thanks for the suggestions. Having a look at them all now

Re: Harness...

I got one for Nikita and its so much better than a collar, she's doing well on lead but of course they have excited moments! ...it stops that dangling by the neck thing at those times and they don't end up coughing and choking from pulling, I also got her a flexi lead so combined with the harness she has loads of freedom but I have still have excellent control.

Mine is a Roadsign Australia one and it is quite adjustable, I will have to buy the next size up at some point but thats to be expected of course, it also has relective stitching that shows up really brightly when light hits it...handy for evening walks.

A little pic of Nikita wearing it to show you what its like....

Sorry about the daft photo but this is the only one I have to show you it reflecting!

Re: Harness...

Loving the daft pic lol!

That is exactly the kind of harness I would like. We use a flexi lead too, but only when out in the parks ect. He used to be really good on the flexi, but not so much on the short leash. Now he tries to pull on both so wanna try sorting it out before he gets bigger.

Re: Harness...

I can't find the same brand on any UK websites....found clothing but no dog harnesses unfortunately, I think the EzyDog ones look pretty good too though and a few people have recommended them, I'm thinking of ordering one myself when Nikita goes up to the next size.

Re: Harness...

Both our Dogs have full custom made leather harnesses with metal buckle fasteners and shouder handles for close control.

Oscar never liked his collar as a younger Dog because his ruff would become entangled in the the fastener and we used to have such a performance trying to take it off.

With the harnesss it's just so easy. I simply hold it out for him and he walks into it without a problem.

It's just like saddling a Horse.

Yeeehargh!

The Blue contraption over his shoulders is his night light. Not that he was ever afraid of the dark mind.

Re: Harness...

Millie has a Julius K9 harness which I bought to replac eher worn out EzyDog chest plate harness.

By far definately the best fit harness I have found yet -It is simple to put on and very adjustable. It sits clear of Millies front legs / armpits and she is very happy wearing it, in fact she came in and fell asleep wearing it earlier in the week lazy girly.

I bought it after seeing lots of recommendations for it on this forum. I havnt been disappointed - Its fantastic.

Plus it was reduced from Zooplus lol
