Re: Why did you pick "your" collar??

At the moment Dizzy has a normal flat nylon buckle collar which we got in a rush from the rehoming centre, but she did slip out of it once I have been looking on Sid&Kira website for ages but keep getting confused over which collar to get I think I have decided on the martingale as sometimes if she gets frightened she tends to back up to try and get away. I want a harness and lead too so all I need to do now is remember to measure her if she will stand still long enough

Edit: Reading this back have confused myself again as if I walk her on a harness does she need a martingale collar???

Re: Why did you pick "your" collar??

All 3 of ours have nylon buckle collars, Trix has red, Gem has blue & Bob has my favourite colour (purple)
I picked them because they're nice & simple & do the job I wanted (hanging their ID & microchip tags on), although they're all getting a bit old now so I'll hopefully be replacing them at Crufts next month

Re: Why did you pick "your" collar??

Izzy has 2 P'etiquette collars from their sale last year. They are both leather buckle collars, one is a plain pink and has 1/2 inch holes for the buckle which is great while shes still growing. The other one is a hot pink one with pink crystals on it. Its more for special occasions at the moment as shes between buckle holes. I like pink collars for her so people can see shes a girl but we still occasionally get people asking "whats his name?" I love the P'etiquette collars, they are really good quality and wear really well. They have been in the sea, rivers, mud and they still look great!

I also have my eye on an anne rees padded collar (pink on purple) but Tarnus wont let me buy it! ......yet!!!

Re: Why did you pick "your" collar??

I use the PAH basic £3.99 ones for muddy walks, their other main collars are from here i chose these ones because i like the designs
:: quido petz ::

I really like these but can't warrant spending £75+ on 3 collars when they already have loads they don't wear

Re: Why did you pick "your" collar??

in the house my 2 have there bling lol a chocker, i know alot of people dont like these collars but they are NOT used out of the house they are house collars only they are nice and loose and light weight (dont use the stupid 3inch + thick that you see some teen age boys with huge bully breed dogs wearing), and never have a lead attached to them, but out side Jerrylee has a head collar and a normal black leather collar and Bel has just a brown one thats the same type

Re: Why did you pick "your" collar??

I have leather and brass half checks (One adjustable plain black 1" and one fixed padded dark brown with red padding 1.5") from Ann Rees for everyday use - durable, smart, robust. I love them.

I have a fabric martingale from Indi Dog for the beach etc - easy to wash and no brass that needs cleaning after being exposed to salt water.

The choice of a half check or martingale is because Kilo can slip a normal collar easily, having a wide neck and comparatively small head!

I seem to remember you saying that the half-check helps if Kilo lunges (at cats, if I remember ). How does it do that? I'm assuming it doesn't hurt him.

I do like the look of those Ann Rees ones. I wonder what hubby would make of the cost, though. We won't have to worry about Terence getting in water. He has never attempted to swim.

More because he would lunge then back up and slip his collar or the collar would move about, allowing him to pull me around more as he'd pull and the collar would be around the widest part of his neck so he could put a lot of strength behind it so I have more control (if that makes any sense at all...I am sometimes terrible at explaining myself ). It is adjusted (the adjustable!) or measured (the fixed!) so that the two rings meet at the back of his head and it cannot tighten sufficiently to choke him.

Not got one yet, but seriously considering one of these for my two..especially with the kind of people living in my area.

Ballistic nylon cut collar!

Ah, I see. I like the bolded bit, because I would feel very uncomfortable sticking something on Terence that might hurt him.
Will show OH later, wait for the inevitable "What, how much!!!", then let it rest for a couple of days, and try again. And get a "yes, go on, then".
