A bit concerned

Im a bit worried about Fergus?

He has been fine all day and on his walk, just got him up to take him in the garden for last wee, he is really limping, it's his back right leg. Can dogs just sleep on their limbs in an awkward place like we do??

Re: A bit concerned

He seems to be walking better now, but still not quite right... I've checked pads, and the leg, but can't see anything obvious, and he doesn't seem to mind me touching it

As long as he is weight bearing on it and doesnt seem to be in great pain discomfort or distress, I would just let him rest tonight and see how he is the morning. I have had it with these and by the next day they are fine again.
Try not to worry for now.

Hope he will be OK, even if he is limping slightly still tomorrow they can get knocks and pulls and strains like we can, that often a day or sos further rest often sorts out. Bit like us turning an ankle and it hursts like hell when you do it and maybe for awhile after then wears off.

Hope he is better in the morning.

Re: A bit concerned

It took Fergus a while to get out of his bed this morning, but the limp seems to have gone, thank goodness... I'm going to miss out his morning walk, let him rest it a bit more, then take him on an on lead walk later. Fingers crossed he will be fine

Re: A bit concerned

Hopefully it was just a little pull or similar and he'll be a right as rain soon

I would perhaps keep him on rest or as you say a very short lead walk for at least another day or so. Although he is not Limping now, sometimes if they are slow on rising or lowering themselves to lay down it can mean there is a little discomfort of stiffness still.

Daisy did it a few days ago no limp but when she got up gave one little yelp
and a little cagey on lowering herself to lay down. Couple of days rest and a couple of days shortened walks she is fine again now. Throwing herelf around like a nutter as usual.
