Unhappy Re-homing owner

Sadly we feel the time is right to re-home our owner Candice.

She is a sweet girl who could benefit from a bit more training. She enjoys learning new things and isn't very energetic after a morning walk.

She is a scattered owner who wouldn't know her head from her behind and is always on the go. She worries too much over silly things, like us barking at other dogs on walks and thinks we've messed up all of our training!

She doesn't realise its just a blip and it's not all been un-done, like today for example whilst walking myself, Charlie, we saw a Staffy, I got scared and started barking and my owner got embarrassed, then we met another dog straight after and she tried to take me to one side, but I still barked. She got very stressed and upset and very mad with the situation. I feel she didn't even want to pet me after. For these reasons we think she would do better in a home with 2 quiet, non reactive dogs.

She's great with children and cats, but doesn't like big groups of adults. Very submissive and non confrontational, could do with having her confidence built up a bit.

She isn't a fussy eater and will come with a weeks supply of Cadburys Creme Eggs and Doritos to get you started. She can sleep on her own in a bed, but does much prefer our company when sleeping. Bed included. Toilet trained, wormed and de-flead.

Please PM us if you are interested,

Dottie & Charlie.

Edit; We have decided that it would be in Candices best interests to stay with us so we can work on a training programme and continue to make progress with her, thank you for your interest, but our owner will continue to live with us.

Re: Re-homing owner

Just in case you change your minds Dottie and Charlie I would be willing to take on this lovely owner Candice. My owner could really do with some company sometimes.

Let me know if you feel she's just too much

Love Donnie

Re: Re-homing owner

Dottie and Charlie, I completely understand why you have considered rehoming; but well done for deciding not to pass the problem on. Owners like this are often overlooked at The Humans Trust and other rescue centres as there are so many problem - free humans also looking for a home and Candice would probably be condemned to a life in a kennel.

Well done and wishing you the very best of luck,

Kilo xx.

Re: Re-homing owner

Hi Dottie and Charlie, I know how you feel. My human is ill at the moment and keeps waking me up during the night. I feel that it would be kinder to have her PTS, plus I'm really tired. I hope you manage to sort out your human's issues.
Love, Kenzie.

Re: Re-homing owner

I see so many adverts like this, if you had trained her properly when you were puppies there wouldnt be this problem now, youve allowed her to belive shes in control and you need to work on this. Rather than putting her in a rescue if you dont manage to sort this out maybe you should think about having her pts, it isnt cruel because most humans like to go to sleep.

Re: Re-homing owner

Hi, Dottie and Charlie if you need a break from your pet human, you can come and stay with us we have trained our humans to take us on exciting varied explorations we've also taught them to play fetch and they throw the ball very far now. There's some lovely shallow waters near by and its great to wash off after a good roll in the mud.

I wouldn't worry about getting the seats in the back of the car dirty as they seem to clean themselves everytime we go in the car. Although we have a nice sized garden to run around it is a bit annoying as our humans always shut the gate so we cant get out.

Anyway we are sure you will be fine with your human just keep up the training and it will all pay off in the end.

Good luck

Woof Woof!

Re: Re-homing owner

We are two very calm and non-reactive dogs. We never bark at other dogs or people, we just want to play with them all. Candice would be welcome to come and help our mum, especially if she likes grooming, but she will have to sleep on the floor with us as we don't have a spare bedroom.

Re: Re-homing owner

Hi Dottie and Charlie
I can sympathize with your situation and have considered rehoming my owners for a while now. They have issues with food aggression. Earlier today was the last straw; all I did was put my paw on daddy's leg.

I am also rehoming my 9 week old sister

Love from Florence

Re: Re-homing owner

I really don't want to put a dampener on this thread Dottie & Charliet but I am afraid I think you should accept some responsibility for her behaviour. I think you should try to exercise her more and you say she doesn't like large groups - have you considered socialisation classes? It might be worthwhile also to get her checked out at the 'human vets' to make sure there's no underlying problem which is causing the stress when you are out.

I seriously think you should look into changing her diet as well - creme eggs & doritos are definitely not one of the more recommended foods and may be partly contributing to the strange behaviour she is exhibiting. A healthier diet may help her.

Having said all of the above I would commend you for your edit where you are saying you have reconsidered and are willing to ride it out with her - I am sure in the long run you will be rewarded for your decision and I hope you have many, many happy fun years with her xx
