No tips at all as I haven't ever been to agility....but just wanted to say that I hope you enjoy it; worth going for the men to make the tea at least .

Re: Agility Starts Tomorrow

Can't be as embarrassing as Duke having a go where he just ran into the jumps, refused to do the tunnel but unexpected did do great at the weaves.

Just go and have fun if mistakes happen just have a good laugh at least you'll have tried and spent time together

Re: Agility Starts Tomorrow

top tips that come to mind are - take more treats than you think you'll need (small non crumbly are best), if your dog is more toy than treat motivated then still take loads or treats but also take a toy to use, wear comfortable clothes that you can run in (I've seen a few people regret not doing that), try to take your dog for a walk to empty himself first (it's embarrassing when your dog suddenly needs to go right now in the middle of the class cos he was too busy playing with his friend earlier to do the necessary).
Most importantly - have fun and don't try to force your dog to do anything he finds scary at first, there's no rush so if he doesn't feel happy with something then take it at his speed and use plenty of treats and praise and he should discover that it's not as bad as he thought.
Word of warning though - agility is highly addictive, we've only been learning for just over 6 months and we're both hooked on it

Re: Agility Starts Tomorrow

Tip here is to stop worrying about making a fool of yourself and laugh if anything goes wrong
Hope you both have fun

Having looked forward to it all day it was cancelled due to the icy conditions that are forecast (it is down some country lanes and the snow is still lying around). Bit disappointed ...but thank you for the great tips
