Re: Ear Clipping..:( :( I Think thats the term.

My personal point of view would be to withhold goods and services to those that disfigure their dogs like this.

In the same manner that a dog with a docked tail now requires documentation proving that it is done for medical or is an active working dog.

Cropping the ear must affect the dog's ability to hear as nature intended as does a tail allow a dog to communicate and maintain balance while running.

Re: Ear Clipping..:( :( I Think thats the term.

It is the 1st time I've ever seen it in my 34 years of Grooming...

I Disagree with This AND Tail Docking Dogs were born with ears and tails and we as people have no right to take them away from them... to me it's mindless mutilation.

I felt terrible taking Sasha to the vets to be spayed just becouse of the discomfort of the op for her... So how people can do this for for no postive reason is beyond me

There is a dog i've just started seeing around my area that is of that "type" with cropped ears I just hope the police don't see him, he won't stand a chance with the cropped ear's making him look even more like a pit

Thats exactly how I feel about the Dog today.....Still feel like crying and still thinking of her. WHY.

When I got her out of the Bath and wrapped her in a Towel all she could do was lick and kiss me and to think someone did that to her....She got lots of cuddles from me...

I Just don't get it....Why on earth do they deserve this? Well they don't !!

I'll Rephrase that why do people think they have the right to do this?

I can't believe how a Vet would ever agree to do it in the 1st place.

I don't think the owner had it done as he seemed confused when I asked about them and he just said it must be the breed she is crossed with and when he said she was born like that..I'm thinking they were done before he bought her.

He said he got her from Ireland and he'd been given papers to say she was a pure bred staffy but then he realised she is'nt.

But then would'nt his vet tell him they'd been cropped surely he'd know this.

I don't know how do you trust what people tell you.

I never thought of that If she's seen she'll surely be PTS OH, it gets worse

And of course This Dog I did today could easily have been a pitbull and the owner just said she was a X-Breed....

But X-breeds are being pts all the time just becouse they look ''The Type''

Re: Ear Clipping..:( :( I Think thats the term.

I hate cropped ears on all dogs. Over here most Dobies have cropped ears and I think it makes them look stupid, apparently it is done to make them look more scarey but I don't think it does. The crop on a pitbull is barbaric as the ear flap is removed, poor things

I do have to admit that I find Dobies odd looking with a tail but that is just because I haven't seen enough of them to forget the old look. I educate my children that docking is wrong and they know no different, as I say the Dobies here have cropped ears and docked tails and the look of disgust on my eldests face is priceless Strangely the Rottie here is European and has proper ears and a tail and looks stunning, so maybe the Dobie tail looks so whip like it reminds me of my Dobie x and all the problems we had with her tail splitting and not healing.

I also remember when we got our JRT (I must have been about 18 and a bit niave ) and I got talking to a woman when walking him and she said 'Oh you had him docked?' And I was horrified and said 'No, he was born like that!' She gave me such a weird look lol. But my aunt and Uncle bred their bitch and he was 1 of the puppies and I couldn't believe they would do such a thing... but they did obviously! So some people do believe what they are told and if he had seen pictures of cropped pitbulls before and not know the practice exists he could very well believe it. Or he is just a bare faced liar!

Re: Ear Clipping..:( :( I Think thats the term.

I mentioned this in another post we saw a youngish staff maybe a years old with cropped ears this weekend...

Hungary , Portugal and parts of Spain still allow this practice ( as far as I know) people pay good money to get a dog from these places if they want the 'look'..

With Europes open borders its becoming more and more difficult to stop them bringing the dogs in and selling them on.
