Re: Just out of curiosity?
I would turn round and walk away.
Because I have a new young Rescue dog who is anxious about on-lead dogs and so is learning his manners and also that he is safe round other dogs and will not be forced into proximity with them. So atm I am giving him enough space. If we were in the park and the dogs were offlead I`d have no problem - staffs usually make good playmates for my mob. |

Re: Just out of curiosity?
it would depend on way too many factors to give a definitive answer here. Including if both/either dog was on/off lead, body language of both dogs etc. but largely would depend on what you are like as the owner - are you paying attention to your dog? are you winding him up to attack other dogs or are you talking to him calmly and encouraging him to play nicely? do you look like you've taught your dog some manners and will enforce them? or will you let your dog spiral out of control?
To be honest the fact that your dog is a staffy is not one of the factors that would decide what we'd do - Angus gets on fine with well behaved staffies and plays happily with them, he does not like badly behaved staffies that play too rough and won't stop when he's had enough. |

[QUOTE=McKenzie;1061782460
Having said that, I do get frustrated when owners go out of their way to pick fights over people they feel judge their dogs (when in reality they weren't). [/QUOTE] Well said, me too. Same old "you looking at my dog" type of thread, going round in same old circles. Must try not to get drawn into it this time ![]() |

Re: Just out of curiosity?
While on holiday we had people obviously crossing the road to avoid Emma who, although not a staffie is the "type" in a lot of people's eyes (staffies banned in Germany). It's something you have to accept when getting a breed such as a staffie or in our case an Old English Bulldog. It's the exceptions who make your day though. Those who make effort to come up, ask if they can touch her and spend the next 10+ minutes asking for details about her which more than make up for it.
In answer to the original post though.. the same as anyone else with a dog approaching. It depends which of our dogs we had with us at the time and how they are likely to react. Emma, ask you to introduce Bentley slowly and be prepared to back off if either started to show aggression. With Benny, not really sure at the moment. He tends to be very protective of me and we haven't had a lot of experience meeting other dogs or people together. I do wonder if the protective streak and reactions aren't influenced by his blindness. Working on socializing him at the moment but it's probably going to take time. Nelson and Daisy would simply enjoy meeting another dog.
