I decided this morning that Kilo and I would go and climb Slemish. It is an inactive volcano and legend has it that St Patrick herded swine on it's slopes as a boy slave before his escape.

It is a short, but sharp and precarious climb, so I didn't take many photos on the way up or down as I needed my wits about me to control Kilo and my hands free to ensure I didn't slip off a rock and end up back at the bottom .

It was cloudy, cold, damp and foggy (and still is) until we climbed out of it....then glorious sunshine .

Lovely photos! I was lambing near Ballymena last March and I could see Slemish from the farmhouse kitchen window. Always wondered what it was like up close!

I have seen it from so many of our other walks that I thought I'd go and investigate .

The whole walk was only about 3 miles, but the climb to the summit is just straight up and on big, slippery rocks; quite precarious....had a few '5 pence piece / dustbin lid' moments with Kilo attached although he was good as gold for me.

The Boy Wonder was even panting at one point (briefly, for about 5 seconds !) so must have been steep.

I would have just set up camp at the bottom with some cocoa and allowed Sailor to run up and down intil he tired himself out lol

Don't give me any of that . You would have put on the geeky clothes that I KNOW you have and come up there with us....I would have made you a birthday cake and got it out at the top .

Dogs have to be on a lead.....so you couldn't have disappointed Sailor on his gotcha day, could you? .
