Re: What to do - picking up poop

The forestry commission woods we go to has a 'stick & flick' policy though if they go on the path and there isn't a stick to hand i bag it. Your lucky there is a poo bin as ours doesn't have one at all and your expected to take it home with you. I keep meaning to get one of those airtight plastic food tubs to put in the car.

Re: What to do - picking up poop

We never go anywhere with the "doggy bag". Its just a shabby old casual handbag, but we use it to carry a bottle of water, long line if we're taking it, maybe a toy, and lots of poo bags.

We just put the used (tied up obviously) poo bags into the handbag so we don't have to carry them around by hand - either until we find a bin or we get home. Nobody else can see you're carrying poo around - just looks like a handbag.

Hope no one tries to mug me when I'm dog walking - they'll be in for a major disappointment!!

Re: What to do - picking up poop

The reason they don't have them (poo bins) in far reach places is because the people who change them can't be expected to trek miles in order to do so. They need to be within easy access of roads.

If your dog goes off the path, just leave it. It will break down naturally. Anyone who goes traipsing off the beaten track will have to accept that they may well tread in poo!

Re: What to do - picking up poop

I really wish people around here would pick up. We have large, grassy areas in front and behind the blocks of flats and there's dog poo all over them. It's absolutely disgusting. Same with the path on the field, dog poo on it and all around it. I can understand not picking up if the dogs gone well off the path but right next to it or on it is another matter!

Re: What to do - picking up poop

I dont pick up in forests, if they do it near the path I just kick it out of the way with my shoe (not as disgusting as it sounds cos they are raw fed and it's hard!)

Re: What to do - picking up poop

Thanks for posting all the containers guys, I hate carrying the bag and this would mean I wouldn't feel so icky anymore! There are no bins around our area for some reason.
