Re: Paranoid Dog Owner - Am I the only one?

Again, thank you for all of your replies

I don't really think much about it in general, I let Phoebe walk upto big dogs and not even bat an eyelid, I let her play fight and do all the things a dog twice her size would. I like to think that I don't restrict her in any way, she has lots of dog friends

I'd just like to expand the things we do this summer, it's our first proper summer together and I'd love to take her away. I suppose the reason I'm so anxious on trains is because I regularly get one to Coventry with my OH and every single time there's been trouble. Whether it be drunk people, violence, arguments etc - something ALWAYS hapens. So my views on trains is pretty much blackened out.

Anyway, I'm sure if I was careful then everything would be fine

God, what the hell will I do if I ever have children?!

Re: Paranoid Dog Owner - Am I the only one?

I think its normal to be a bit paranoid!
But if you are walking around on the verge of panic attacks then you should probably see someone

There are certain people on walks that make me grip onto the lead more tightly and if I take the dogs on a bus etc I make them sit on the window side as I do with my bag and keep my hand on just to make it more difficult for anyone to grab and walk off the bus etc. I think that is just being careful, after all there are enough scum out there to make us feel this way.

I do worry that people will break in and steal them or that I've forgotten to turn the iron off and the house will go on fire or something (but I don't walk around in a constant state of worry over these)

Re: Paranoid Dog Owner - Am I the only one?

I suppose it will always be a serious concern for any one who owns small breed Dogs especially when designer Dogs can so easily be picked up and shoved under a coat never to be seen again.

You need a BIG Watch Dog to watch your Dog!

We have no worries regarding our Dogs being stolen. It's just not going to happen unless, of course, the would-be thief is any one of the following;

A member of the Dangerous Sports Club.

P1553D out of his head and attempting to Dognap for a dare to impress his band of equallly p1553d out of their heads hysterical onlookers.

A Junkie with a death wish desperate to raise cash for his next fix.

I've always worried about mine being stolen, i'd never leave them anywhere unattanded. When they are offlead on walks i'm quite wary of people, especially since so many people take interest in Charlie being an unusual breed.
I think it's simply being responsible to be aware of the possibility, and take precautions to protect your dogs that doesn't mean wrap them up in cotton wool and not let them be dogs though
I've always been taught to 'never be complacent' thinking 'oh that'll never happen to me' etc but i'm not a nervous wreck paranoid about everything and freak out all the time lol just means to be sensible really.

I always worry about Fluff being stolen In the mornings when i leave for work i always lock the front door incase someone sees me leave and goes in my house to take her
I dont like leaving her alone and always worry when i let her offlead incase she runs off and someone takes her
If you ever decide to go to the beach, tell me! I might be able to drive us there for a day out

Only just seen this, we should definitely take a trip to the beach this year. Floof would absolutely love it, she'd come home so messy

Thanks for your replies everyone, I'm just very cautious but not so much that I'm obsessive. I have a good balance, it's just the fear of losing her that takes over.

Re: Paranoid Dog Owner - Am I the only one?

Gotta say, I'm more worried about birds of prey.
Pip'd be a lovely snack, and there's lots of Buzzards, Kestrels and a few Red Kites around here. The other summer, not sure what type it was, but something swooped into the garden and grabbed a dove!

If someone stole my pair they'd be bringing them back the next day, if they liked to sleep after 6.30 A.M. that is. ?????????????????
