Question Allergy to cooked chicken?!

Every time I have given Xiva cooked chicken (the dogs get the left overs if we have a sunday roast and occasionally I will buy a cooked chicken breast to have in a sarnie) she has pooed in her bed the next day and then had the runs!

Are there any other things that she is likely to have a bad reaction to? I can't think that it could just be a co-incidence as it is every time she has had it she does love chicken too

Re: Allergy to cooked chicken?!

Sounds strange if it's just plain chicken, does she have anything else with it like gravy or something? Does she have a reaction to anything else?

Re: Allergy to cooked chicken?!

Dogs can be and are allergic to chicken (it is a protein) so just stop giving it to her.

Re: Allergy to cooked chicken?!

Could be the chicken or the way the chicken is cooked. I've never met a dog which is allergic to boiled chicken, but have met a few which can’t tolerate uncooked or fried chicken. If you have any doubts, best to avoid it altogether I'd say.

Re: Allergy to cooked chicken?!

They are oven cooked chicken. When they have sunday leftovers they get potato and gravy but they also get potato and gravy other times and no reaction, and if I give them when Ive had a chicken sarni it is just chicken.

Obviously I am not going to feed it to her anymore I just thought it was a bit odd. Now I can't give any to the other dogs as I feel too mean

Re: Allergy to cooked chicken?!

Heidi is exactly the same. Raw chicken is fine, cooked chicken, even the plainest bit of breast upsets her tum.

Re: Allergy to cooked chicken?!

We used to have a GSD who couldn't tolerate cooked chicken or any complete food that was chicken based.

My oldest whippet Jasper is allergic to raw chicken but can tollerate cooked chicken.
