vets AGAIN today!!

i swear, i am NEVER EVER getting another puppy!! they are such a bloody worry i know older dogs get poorly, but jeeeeez

so, i get home from work wednesday, let kiva out of her crate and we went for a walk, towards the end of the walk i thought to myself she seemed 'quiet'?? anyway when we got home she darted to the back door and whined so i let her out and she threw up!! looked like her breakfast, that was about 4pm and she went on to throw up another half a dozen times until it was just white phlegmy stuff i rang the emergency vet at about 11pm and the receptionist/vet nurse???? i spoke to said it sounded like she had eaten something that upset her stomach, but i could take her in if i was worried, at a cost of £150!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! and that was just for the consultation. anyway she was sick at about 1am and seemed to stop, i presumed she had emptied whatever was upsetting her. so i spent the night on the couch with her (im not going to get into the fact that the 2 seater wasnt good enough for her and she just HAD to sleep on the 3 with me ) the next day i stayed off work and she was a little sleepy and lethargic, but still interested in things like who might be plotting to break into the house as they walked past!! ha ha
she hadnt had anything to eat since around 8.30am on the wednesday as i didnt think it would be wise to give her anything wednesday night while she was vomiting, so thursday around 12pm i made her 2 scrambled eggs which she ate, and kept down, she wasnt interested in water so i had been using a medicine syringe to give her some every hour or so. gave her 2 more scrambled eggs at about 3.30pm again she kept them down and at tea time i gave her a few spoons of chappie loaded with water mixed with diarolyte so it looked like soup and she ate that and kept it down, thursday night she seemed to buck right up and i thought she was over it. friday morning she had her ww wet with a handful of ww kibble made into soup and she ate it all and kept it down, so i went to work as normal, OH said she was fine when he came home at dinner, and she seemed to be back to normal when i got in from work, took her for a walk and when we got back she seemed to be all lethargic again made her another bowl of chappie soup and she lapped it up and looked for more, then when she was laid on the couch last night she sneezed once, and then did a really big sneeze iand i am 95% sure something came flying out of her nose!! she sort of laid there for 5 mins switching her nose and looking on the floor and then it was like BAM loopy puppy was back bringing toys to play tug, chewing her stag bar, tail wagging, bright eyed and ready for mischief.

then this morning i got up and shes all waggy and happy again, has a drink but then when i give her some breakfast (turkey mince) she sniffed it and walked away, then about 20 mins later i hand fed her a few pieces and she took them, then proceeded to go outside and throw up!!! and it looked like the turkey mince mixed in with the chappie soup she had had the previous night so we is off to vets at 3pm

i swear they are soooo bloody worrying!! just wish she could talk so she could either say, i ate something i shouldnt and im just feeling icky or mum im really not well!!

Re: vets AGAIN today!!

Poor girl, I hope she's feeling a lot better after the vet visit and it's nothing serious.

I think we all wish they could talk, life would be much easier!

Re: vets AGAIN today!!

I'm having similar with Lexi today....not at vets stage yet but she woke us up twice in the night crying to go out, has been sick 4 times, has been to the loo 9 times so far today and is very under the weather. That said she has such a senstive stomach then we tend to just have to sit it out with her.
Shes asleep at the minute but you can she she is uncomfortable and her stomach is guggling away.

Re: vets AGAIN today!!

Thank you
It's the whole 'do I, don't I take her to vets' that drives you bonkers! On the face of it, she just has a dicky tummy, but everytime I think she is better we have an episode, now for instance she is patrolling the garden looking for intruders and chewing bloody pegs! *kiva! Drop!* I'm sure she just thinks I've money to burn lol

Re: vets AGAIN today!!

Hope you find out whats wrong ang get something to help her. They deffinately are a worry. Kobi was so bad I said never again (all the others prior to him were older rescues youngest 15mth) that was it no more puppies, then did it again about 2half years later with Nan. Although she was an angel to him I must admit

Hope yours is better soon.

Re: vets AGAIN today!!

remember that GSD's do tend to have dodgy tummies, if Trouble is ever sick (a part from car sick) i don't feed her at all for 24 hours to let whatever is bothering her pass through

hope Kiva gets better soon, i'm sure it will be a rather expensive bought of nothing though, just to keep you on your toes
