Re: vets AGAIN today!!

Its such a worry when they are not well.

I think we have been to the vets 6 times since december. First Buck was coughing /sneezing thought it was kennel cough but the vet didn't think so she said most likely just given hiomself a sore throat lying in front of the new woodburner. Then Mac and Tabitha went for their jabs sorry they can't have them they have an infection so that was the pups and Buck on antibiotics. The following week they were back again for their jabs. Next Micca arrived and she went for her jabs, a week later mac and Tabby were back for their second then last week Micca was back for her second.

When we left we Micca we said to the vet no offense meant but we hope we don't see you again for a long while. It seems as though we have had a regular appointment on a thursday afternoon for the last 6 weeks.

Re: vets AGAIN today!!

I'm sorry to hear Kiva isn't well, hope she soon gets better.
There are a lot of dogs round here with some kind of bug so I was told on our walk this morning.
We really do need some very cold weather to kill off the bugs. It is quite mild again today.

Re: vets AGAIN today!!

I was wondering when someone would ask me that Moonviolet she hasn't been since yesterday and it was less than firm but nowhere near water like

I have always had older rescue or private rehomed dogs SDH and yes they occasionally needed the vet but kiva apparently likes it so much there we are going every month makes it worse that since I rang the vets she has been wagging, and playing, and counter surfing, and making puppy dog eyes at my tuna sandwich!

Soooo we have been to vets, he had a good squeeze round her tummy and said he doesnt believe it's a foreign object, more gastro? I presumed that meant upset tummy he gave her an injection, but didn't say what it was but on the invoice it says cerenia? Anyone know what that is? We also have some canikur, says it supports natural intestinal balance. So £55 later she has a poorly tummy and I'm boiling rice and scrambling eggs.

I am however now a little more worried about her front legs you may remember I took her to vets about a month ago I took her to vets because she had held her front leg up a few times and helped in pain? She was given metacam, and since she hasn't yelped but I have noticed that she will favour her other leg and sort of hover her right one one the floor when sat, or occasionally will hold it up. When I said that to the vet he did a sort of 'oh dear' face and said if it's not stopped over the next few weeks we are going to have to have her xrayed I'm now hoping it's something like pano, but even that cant be diagnosed without xray so unless it's a sprain that has lasted a month or so, it looks like that's the route it will go.

Anyway, for now, all is well in the world with kiva! Ha ha

Cerenia I think is just an anti-sickness med to stop vomitting and control it.

Just hope the leg problem is just a growing pain/juvenille problem it could well be. I know with a pup its hard but did you rest her and give her metacam when it first happened? If not and I know it can be hard for a pup if you rest her as much as possible as well maybe that will help if its just something inflammatory thats causing it.

Is she still on the Metacam? If she is did the vet tell you that sickness and tum upsets are a very common side effect with Metacam?

Thanks sled dog, I knew someone would know what it was

She was only on the metacam for a week, that's how long the vet said to give her it. I didn't really rest it no he never told me to, but do you think it would help? I really just hope it's a growth thing too, her legs/joints being dodgy have been my worse fear since getting her. Irrational I know, but as I said she is my first puppy and they are so worrying!
