But by the sounds of it you have your head screwed on the right way and will already be prepared for all that and highley unlikely to give up on her at the first set back, if any at all.

I must admit I don't know a great deal about dogs despite having my chi for 12 years. I do know to be cautious and to expect the unexpected but don't know enough about dogs, or this particular breed to not listen to peoples advice. I did ignore one piece of advice in this thread about not taking her off her lead yet which ended up being another BIG mistake. Yesterday, out in the fields..we had been there less than 5 mins, abosultely certain no one was about so thought it safe to let her loose.
What I didn't see coming were 2 horses and their riders. Then all hell broke loose. She went to the horses, had a good sniff at them as I was running toward her to put her on her lead. all of a sudden, she was barking and jumping up side of the horses, running around them...barking more. It definately wasn't a "red zone" situation..no viciousness, aggression, no teeth showing etc, Im pretty certain about that....but Im not sure about her intention whether it was her just being playful or something.
She seemed to be trying to nip at the underside of the horses..she'd obviously seen "something" there that she wanted. The girls got off the horse, tried to kick her...I tried to catch her...she wasn't having any, and as I ran behind the horse, the horse kicked and caught my shin!! I was running on pure adrenalin at that point as I didn't feel a thing and didn't even care that I'd just been kicked by a horse for the first time in my life...total panic!
Then I shouted really loud and she just cowered, went on her side, with her paws up (why didnt I do that in the first place)...and I put the lead on her. I was very shaken and it all happened so fast. SO...I had been warned, I ignored it and paid the price! lesson learned me thinks. The riders were surprisingly very nice about it tho, and they could see I was distressed by the whole thing....Im sure they were pretty distressed themselves but luckily no one was hurt, except my shin! (I know the horse didn't REALLY kick me as I would've certainly known it if it had, but it caught me enough to leave a nice bruise)
I've also discovered she doesn't like cats! Took her my mothers, her cat was outside..sasha caught site of her and went nuts trying to get at her, again, no agression, showing teeth..just barking but she did the head shake trying to get loose from the lead... I did know how to handle that ok-ish tho so I wasn't worried at the time.
SOO... point is. Thanks for the warning...totally taken onboard!
