Re: Got Offered 2K To Use Sammy As Stud!

I don't know about Akitas, but a normal stud fee for a fully health tested and registered dog would be about £500 to £800, I believe.

It sounds very much like someone showing off. I doubt you would ever see the money anyway, but you really don't want to encourage these sorts of "breeders", do you?

You know as well as anyone what a specialised breed Akitas are, and the pups would be sold to anybody who has the money and probably end up dumped because some idiot bought them for their looks.

Don't touch it with the proverbial barge pole.

Yeh the guy could well be lying, thats why i laughed it off anyway.

Besides even if i was ever considering studding Sammy out the least i would do is hip score him. Infact i might get them checked at some point anyway as Leashed For Life is always tellin me how is walk looks wonky!

Yeh Sammy isnt reg'd and i dont know the blood lines of his mother. However, i do know the bloodlines of his dad and that side of his ancestory. The only thing i know is that the guy i bought Sammy from is a decent guy and Sammy doesnt have many brothers and sisters so there is no way this bitch up the road is related to Sam.

Oh there are far too many idiots in my area, i wouldnt sell them a rat let alone a dog.

Re: Got Offered 2K To Use Sammy As Stud!

Makes me wonder why he's offering £2000 to use a un-registered, non-health tested, un-proven dog when he could call up a good stud dog for much less. Obviously he's aware others wont agree with his ethics.

Please resist. Money is all well and good with no strings attached but there will be, not only will you be handing over your boy's sperm to by your own admission a back yard breeder but if those pups have bad health or end up in bad homes (after all powerful breeds are often sought after for fighting) you may well live to regret it.

Sam is a lovely dog, he's very handsome but sometimes that's just not enough. When Kai was young I had constant offers to use him at stud, not health tested and not proven, the types of people asking had either unregistered bitches or where breeding for money. I neutered him. I am glad I didn't use him, I could not live with myself knowing any pups had gone to less than the best homes.

You should not even consider it, there are already enough dogs suffering.

Have a look at Akita Rescue sites, see if that can help you make your mind up.

I'm saying no more on the subject.

Re: Got Offered 2K To Use Sammy As Stud!

I woudn't stud Oscar for £1M even. The risks are too great, it can change them to the point where they can't be indoor dogs anymore (not always but it can) and neutering doesn't always reverse this. I was asked to stud Oscar to a very nice little Sprocker bitch, it was tempting - no money was offered but we could have a had a Son of Oscar puppy. So I did a bit of research and no, just no, not worth it for a pet dog. I love him too much to put him at such risk with no real benefit to him.

And that was without considering health tests, the rescue situation etc...

Re: Got Offered 2K To Use Sammy As Stud!

Sammy is a beautiful dog, and money is tempting....
BUT he has no health tests, you have no idea about the bitch's health tests etc... so IMO if you put Sammy out to stud you would be no better than all the other byb's that get regularly slated on here because thats what you would be!

could you imagine the bitch having sammy's pups and 8 weeks later seeing one of those people you wouldnt sell a rat to walking around with one of sammy's babies??????

Have you not said in the past that Sammy does not conform to breed standard?

Ignore the pound signs.

Re: Got Offered 2K To Use Sammy As Stud!

Living very close to 5, I don't think this is surprising - What is surprising is that people who don't seem to live anywhere near think this wouldn't happen?

While the majority of where I am is respectable, there is also a lot of BYBs and dogs that sell for stupid amounts.

Obviously Sammy shouldn't be bred from, but I can understand the temptation. As long as you don't act on it, there's nothing wrong with saying 2 grand is a tempting amount!

Re: Got Offered 2K To Use Sammy As Stud!

well everyone seems to have forgetten that this guy is keeping this intact dog Sammy with an unneutered female rescue. He was refusing to neuter but hey will now come on and say this is not so no doubt.
The double standards on this forum are incredible.
Sammy could be breeding within his own home with the rescued female and bet you then he will be happy to sell these crosses on to the community he slags off so much.
Rescues are overflowing with akitas and their crosses. If there was no intention to take this so called "offer" of 2k why oh why post it on a forum. If you rule something out then where is the discussion.
Rivers you can tell me all you like to crawl wherever, I have as much right to post on here as you and these insults merely show your true colours.
I have posted on your thread not because I am bored. I read all posts but only reply to ones I feel strongly about. Showing off about potentially breeding more difficult to home dogs gets my goat.
