Question Anyone got any suggestions...........

My two Bassets (Reiver and Venus) WILL sleep in separate crates throughout the day, they really don't care one way or another!!

BUT at night if I put them in separate crates then Venus will howl the house down (have left her for an hour before ), so I end up going down and putting them back in the same crate which they love .

BUT Venus is due into season next month and although Reiver never tries to hump her (they are both intact), when I say never I mean NEVER. He doesn't hump anything So with her due into season i have been trying since December to separate them at night, but have been getting no-where.

Does anyone have any ideas?? Please

Why would I get them done if the only problem I'm having is her howling the house down when separated from her brother?

Not a bad idea I think its only her as he is usually lying down when I come down and she's sitting up, when I open her crate he doesn't budge!!

What I don't get is they are happy to sleep separately through the day but not at night

Because then you could put them together.

Re: Anyone got any suggestions...........

I'm not going to just neuter them both for my convenience. I only asked for some suggestions as to how best to solve the crate issue. NOT whether I should neuter them or not. The only problem I have is howling but other than they are great . If he was trying to hump her left right and centre then yes I would but he isn't so I'm not.
