but shes chewing my crotch now coz the polo mint is emptied
OOOOHHH!!! That sounds like an ace idea.
The toilet roll, I mean, not the crotch chewing!

He does seem slightly less mental than normal after his exhausting mental exercise.

Re: What games do you play with your dogs?

Both Zara and Oscar love to play 'Hide come seek'
The game itself started out as a bit of mischief on our part when they were pups. They were off somewhere in the distance and we decided to scarper in different directions to hide. It wasn't long before they realised we were nowhere to be seen and came charging back to the point where they last saw us. Then with their noses to the ground they set off together to track us down.

Today the game is more organised and they're more skilled at rooting us out.

At the weekend we play Poker but, unfortunately for Oscar, his 'Poker face' doesn't really hide a great deal and Zara is a terrible loser!

Already on it, Love.
He can do "paw", "other paw", "roll over", "leave it" with all sorts of flying objects and he can obviously do all the other obedience stuff.
Just want new ideas.

Re: What games do you play with your dogs?

I didn't read all the responses, so I hope I don't say somethings that was already said. I prefer contact plays, even if I get bruises, but we have 2 soft ways of playing.

1. I send him out of the room and I hide 4-5 treats (or pieces of his usual food) and I tell him: "search". I repeat this a few times.

2. We are both on the floor with a ball and I give him the ball. He pushes me with the ball, I take it and give him the ball again and so on.

edit: about training. I saw some very funny videos on youtube: cover your eyes (the dog puts a paw on his eye), bang (a funny play dead), limp.

Re: What games do you play with your dogs?

Sorry if repeated but saw you didn't want "rough" games. I play hide and seek with a favourite toy - I sit on the floor and put the toy either up my sleeve or up my jumper to start with and see if Rascal can find - it has taught him to be very gentle. Once he has found the toy, I hide it again (try to vary the hiding place - pass it to someone close by if the dog can't see you do it) and so on ..
Hard to explain really but if you take it slowly (and can live with a cold sniffing wet nose up your jumper ) it may help
