It's not that I'm doing this for any authority reasons - but doing odd bits of training like this throughout the day (as ballybee has suggested) keeps them on their toes and adds to their mental stimulation...and obedience.

And DOGLESS - I kept a puppy diary. Since hubby worked so much I wanted to show him all the things Charlie had done through the day, what he'd accomplished and how many toilet accidents he'd had etc. It is funny looking back over it.
Wish I had - used to just tell hubby what Kilo could do...Kilo then obviously acted as if he didn't know what I was on about when I used to try and show him!!

I make him work for everything too - think every little helps!

Dotte is on a distinguished road
Re: Worst day with bryson so far.

Balybe, thank you, I'm gonna try the hiding game, I know I need to metally stimulate him more, and I feel so bad cuz we cant take him on walk yet, I feel sometimes like he's looking at me going "why are u keeping me in this stupis house all the time?"

Dogless, thank you, I do see improvements all the time, and he is still very young, I just get so frustrated on days like this (and this has been the worst). I do wish my boyfriend could be here more often to give me a hand but he sees Bryson as his dog when he's good and my dog when he's "bad" (although he's never bad just annoying )

Lol believe me your OH isn't the only one, Tummels always "our dog" when he's calm and well behaved but as soon as his cheeky side comes out it's "come and sort your dog out" or "look what your dog has done now!!"

Another suggestion that may work on the biting is to put either honey or peanut butter on your hand, Bryson will then lick it off with lots of praise and you can add a cue word like "nice/gentle/kisses" etc etc so next time he starts mouthing you can give the cue and get licked instead of bitten.

Do you have a kong? I never asked as i usually just assume everyone has one(sorry) but they're a godsend, you can put meals in it, freeze them, again put in some peanut butter or honey so he spends time working how to get the tasy food from the kong into his belly...there's all kinds of food dispensing toys, a kong is probably the mos basic but certainly the most versatile too

ETA - Helbo is referrig to the "nothing in life is free" principle....i think it's a fantastic method and like her i don't use it as any kind of "pack leader/dominance" tool but it's brilliant for teaching dogs manners, the most basic form is getting them to sit, Tummel sits for food, leaving/entering the room, toys, getting on the bed, getting in the car, getting his collar and lead on, starting a training session etc etc...it's very useful

Re: Worst day with bryson so far.

I had a sprollie who was a right little handful, very quick to learn things but a real short attention span and she was so energetic and playful and defiant she was driving me mad. So I thought b*gger this and trained her with toys and her kibble as her rewards. I was like a long playing record. Toilet break, play, "Work" M sit, good dog, stand good dog, here, down. Toilet break, play, start again, stand, down, sit, heel, wait....play.....get something out of the freezer for tea, start again, stand, flat, watch me, heel, turn right, turn left, wait, stay.....wash the dishes, start again..have a play for twenty minutes...make a cuppa, watch me, wait, ......etc etc. When she crashed out I slept on the sofa. Someone else came up with the idea and called it Nothing in Life is Free. She was hard work but by the time she went to classes she did a couple of puppy classes, three basic training and went into the obedience classes which gave us a few different things to practice. Worst puppy but the best dog I ever had.
