Every Dog owners nightmare.

Not only a horrific 'rescue'...

BBC News - RSPCA removes animals from rescue centre after deaths

But also involved in a heart breaking lost dog scandal... telling lie after lie about a dog in their care and even attempting to change the details with the microchip company to conceal their actions

DogLost - Reunited: Black & White Border Collie Male

Toby collie missing from Didcot Oxfordshire OX11

I daren't look anymore.

These stories terrify me. You microchip, you put a tag on the collar, you advertise - and yet theres always the risk that people can take your dog if it gets away for a few minutes

Re: Every Dog owners nightmare.

Do these "rescue" centres not have inspections to make sure tbey are run properly? I would have thought tbey need to have inspections a couple of times a year to ensure conditions are satisfactory and the Animal Welfare Act is being enforced!

Poor animals, always suffering in silence. At least these are safe for now but they'll most likely be given back once the dust settles to start all over again!

Re: Every Dog owners nightmare.

I fear that many animals rescues are set up with all good intentions by rather eccentric people with a huge love of animals but not a complete grasp of what it entails

Re: Every Dog owners nightmare.

That is awful poor Toby!
It is scary to think that a RESCUE could do that! So happy that Barney has a nice new home though

Re: Every Dog owners nightmare.

I am confused (it doesnt take much) - if its been proved they lied about the dog and they have located the dog, have they given it back to the owners? Surely if its been a short time the new "owners" would at least be given the chance to give the dog back? Or have i missed something??

I read the whole thing twice to try and make sense of it - but I am still confused. Can someone explain exactly what happened please

I agree the writing both on the media sites and the lost-dog forums is disjointed and emotional making it hard to see the time-lines and true facts of the case.

I have the impression from reading between the lines that the owner/placement 'manger' of the rescue site took the attitude that a lost dog was a sign that the owner was not worthy so in a misguided way re-homed the dog to improve "Toby's" lot.

As I say this is my impression based on what I have read and speculating about personalities at the dog-rescue.
