Dogs that shed/moult

This is for owners of dogs that shed/moult prefusely.

If you were out walking and someone made a comment along the lines of they think your dog/breed is lovely/gorgeous/stunning but wouldn't want to own one due to the amount of fur left everywhere, would you be offended?

Re: Dogs that shed/moult

I wouldn't, it's personal preference really. I think many dogs are stunning and gorgeous but I wouldn't want to own everyone of them for so many reasons

Re: Dogs that shed/moult

no, why would i be offended, it is a bind hoovering every 2 mins to stop the house turning into hair city. it probably doesn't help that my hair also touches the tops of my legs and my partner has fairly long hair for a man

saying all this.... i can;t wait for Stark's proper coat to grow through

Re: Dogs that shed/moult

No, I don't see why you woud be ?

This is how I actually feel about a lot of breeds (ie I would own them if it was not for that one reason). I still think they are absolutely gorgeous breeds but I think it is important to know your own limits. For most breeds like that it is the grooming that puts people (and me) off and it is better to accept that than end up with a dog with a neglected coat.

Re: Dogs that shed/moult

Thank you, I feel better now

We were out walking on the weekend and I met a couple with spaniel pups, well I was cooing and ahhing over how lovely and adorable they were and then said along the lines of would love a spaniel but after having gotten used to Monty not shedding could never have one now.

Hubby reckons I was implying that their dogs were defective (cos they shed) while mine is perfect (cos he doesn't) .... that wasn't what I meant at all

Just for the record, I hoover every day anyway but thats down to the kids more than the dog

Re: Dogs that shed/moult

I have to hoover the downstairs every day because Jaz sheds constantly as well as having times when she sheds really heavily. Oh joy, I hate that bit but I wouldn't change her for the world! I would never be insulted by those kind of comments - I totally get what they mean!

My sister has a labradoodle which is tempting but if I was getting another it would be a GSD again
