Hiya I've poped over from cat chat to ask u doggy knowing peps some advice.....pls note I'm not doggy knowing so please don't berate me but from what I know doesn't sound right? My mum brought a 8 week shihtuz puppy this afternoon they are getting her vet checked 2moro but I take it she come from a back yard breeder...... The lady said pup is eating whiskers kitten food an cows milk this is where my concerns lay? Surely she shouldn't be eating this? Thoughive introduced mum 2 zooplus she won't get a order for a week or so what should she give her 2 eat tonight the kitten food puppy food I'm at a lost 2 advice them any helpful advice in what she should do would be much appreciated

NOOOOOOOOOOO if she needs milk it should either be goats milk or lactol or something like, no cats food needs a good puppy food - have you got any readybrek in the house or weetabix which would be better than cat food but only as a last resort - rice ???? Can you not pop out and get some puppy food ???

the puppy should be changed over to puppy food soon - not suddenly as that can cause problems but your mum should start mixing in puppy food as soon as possible then increase the amount of puppy and decrease the amout of kitten food over the next few days.
Dogs and cats have very different digestive systems and it is harmful to feed the wrong food for any length of time - generally a few days is not too much of a problem but you want to get a growing puppy onto a decent diet as soon as you can so they are getting the correct balance of nutrients

Pop to the shop for some puppy food until she gets her order?....or cook her some food you have in the house, of course making sure you read up about what is and isn't safe/suitable for puppies though first.
