...somebody was scared of Terence.

We were in the park and whenever I see somebody approaching, I make Terence "wait", because I consider it bad manners when somebody's dog comes barging up to you and jumping all over.
So, Terence was waiting nicely in a "stand". This guy walked towards us and then bent down to Terence (without asking my permission to pet him, another pet hate of mine). Terence took a step towards him, wagging his tail expecting fusses. The guy jumped backwards and nearly fell in the lake and shouted "is he going to bite me???"

Now, I know that we didn't do anything wrong, but it still upset me that somebody would react in such a way to MY dog.

Sorry, a bit pointless.

Why approach him and bend down towards him...then jump back scared when Terence happily goes to greet!...what a complete eedjut

And then shout at the top of your voice that Terence would attack him?? Other people probably took one look at Terence, saw a staffie and added 2 and 2 together to get 5.

Sounds like a total a-hole....and like you say, he really should have asked your permission in the first place anyway!

it crossed my mind when I re read this ....... do you think maybe he was out to cause a scene ....... if I were you I would steer clear if you see him again ...... not trying to make you paranoid but it does seem odd to approach then shout loudly

Yeah, don't blame you, but I am hoping he was just being an idiot.

TBH Staffies are one of the dogs who I greet all the time (when I don't have my dogs) because of their reputation of being fab people dogs! So I think he was being an idiot!
