I am so sorry for you.
I haven't really got any useful advice just wanted to give my sympathies.

Re: was advised to have rio pts

If you care for both your dogs I think you have no choice. Vets are not quick to make that suggestion so I think your vet must feel your dog is in a fair bit of pain.
Please do it soon before she gets any worse. If it has to happen far better to be while she still has some quality of life.

Good luck with staying strong.

Re: was advised to have rio pts

Possibly get a second opinion at a different vet before making such decision? They may try a different medication to see how it goes.

Whatever you do we are all here to talk to and support you. It's a terrible decision to have to make, I'd be devastated if I was in your position.

Re: was advised to have rio pts

We don't know how she is feeling but if she is in so much pain (and it sounds like she is) then that must be a truly miserable existence for her, please try to remember that you would be freeing her from all that....everything else is purely your own personal emotions.

I do think you know what the answer is already deep down and once you have said it out loud and accepted it, while it is emotionally so damn hard to deal with, there is kind of a sense of relief too.

My thoughts are with you and Rio.

I know its not an easy thing to go through, guess the only way we can avoid this heartbreak is to not own a dog at all...but we can't do that either because we love them!

I really feel for you right now, however its better to have them in our lives, even if its sometimes not for very long....than never at all.

Re: was advised to have rio pts

Horrible thing to happen to such a young dog

It's totally up to you, but I would also get a second opinion and try different medication if here is any available. Wishing you all the best.
