excessive lip licking can be a sign that they are getting very wound up and quite 'hyped' for a fight - humans do it too as when adrenaline starts to flow the mouth goes dry so it helps get the saliva flowing - not sure if it's the same in dogs
in this instance body language remained apparently playful though so no real worry - I'd only be concerned if one managed to accidently hurt the other then could quite easily escalate
