Bit of sad news

Took Banjo for his pins today, the vet who does it travels from another practice & wont be doing it from where we go anymore she had 6 dogs to stick pins in every three weeks but apart from Banjo, they were all old & 4 have gone to the bridge over the last 2 weeks Im not sure which ones as dont always see them but the ones we have met, mainly BC's were all owned by elderly people & loved very much, Banjo was always very gentle with the owners & there dogs, such a shame

Pins vet got a bit upset when she was telling me but Banjo gave her a big sloppy kiss so she had a laugh so now we have to travel even further to see her but its worth it & it will be at where Banjo had his op so they can keep an even closer eye on him

Sorry I dont know your names but run free at the bridge lovely pups xxx

Re: Bit of sad news

That is so sad what a blow that must have been for everyone, not only the owners, but this pins vet must have come to know and love every one of those dogs

Rest peacefully, poor pups

Re: Bit of sad news

It's so sad when you know or suspect acquaintance dogs have gone to the bridge. There a few older dogs i have realised i haven't seen in a while and it makes you sad to think of their poor owners.

How sweet of Banjo to give the pins vet a nice sloppy kiss!

I know god I blab on enough to her about Banjo & he will only tolerate 15mins or so with the pins in but the others were in there for a good half hour, always looked alot brighter when they came out though

Re: Bit of sad news

Such a shame always upsetting to hear, you always think of the heartbreak for the owners too as well as the sadness that its another little dog gone to the bridge.

Glad Banjo can still have his pins though even though it means a bit longer trip. Guess it would be hard finding someone else and he wouldnt know and be used to them too.

I'l say I got a lump in my throat when she told me, I was being lent on by Banjo at the time & ................... just makes you think .....

She is the only vet in the area that does it the last one left the practice he has it at & was suppose to be going freelance but I never heard off her to be honest this vet is much better anyway you realy see a difference in him after he has slept it off shame she does'nt do the owners to

Probably the time it takes to train that more vets dont do it, I think for the natural therapies like Hoemeopathy and the herbal stuff its another 5 years.
Thats on top of all the normal study to become a vet which you have to do first of course.

Re: Bit of sad news

Sorry to hear that, but must ask - what is a pins vet?

Do you mean acupuncture?

You get quite attached to the people and dogs you see out and about. So sad when you hear they have gone to the bridge. It always seems so much worse when the owners are elderly and they know they won't be able to have another dog when they lose their faithful friend.
