Whats that stuff called.....

that you put on to stop bleeding ie if you accidentally cut dogs claw to short??

I was just clipping the dogs claws and realised I meant to look for some in pets at home and I need to update my doggy 1st aid box but I can't for the life of me remeber what its called!

Anyone help?

(not that I ever have injuries as mine are taught to keep still when I am doing it but it be handy to have in my 1st aid box just in case)

Re: Whats that stuff called.....

Use a bar of soap, it plugs the claw and stops the bleeding stick the claw into the soap so some stays in the end

Re: Whats that stuff called.....

Thank god for this thread!

Just clipped Alfie's claws for only the 2nd time and he pulled away as I did one of them and it must have pulled the claw as you could see a tiny spot of blood it didn't actually bleed as such but there was blood there (if that makes sense!). Have just dapped a tiny bit of talc on it and he was licking my hand as I was doing it as if to say "I forgive you, you stupid, clumsy woman"

Re: Whats that stuff called.....

As Bellaboo1 says! A bar of soap works just as well....we were advised to use non-perfumed baby soap for when we cut our macaws claws and it works wonders! We always keep a bar of baby soap for that reason and can use it for or birds, rabbits and dogs !!
