help....pleasse
Pixi(lab x lurcher) was my first dog. I got her when she was about 4 months, by then she was already in 3 different families nd i was the fouth one. she could not walk on leash she would pee everywere, but because i felt bad for her, plus this was my first dog i let her do it. Now pixi is 13months nd i got a new dog neci(collie x staffy) she is 12weeks now, my friend got me her because she said it will help my older dog to satle down, plus i can learn them two how to pee outside. So i am 18 years old, in collage doing art and design, have a job and two dogs. Nd all of this is too much i cant train those dogs, they would not listen to me they destroy everything new to our house, they destroyd carpet, its like i dont have any control, they are doing whet ever they want. and the bigest problem is not gone them two now pee in the house nd pupe, when ever they feel like. my room is apsolutly smells. i live with my parents nd my boyfriend. me nd him live in one room nd two dogs, so u could imagine how this room looks like carpet is eaten, pee, leather bed destroyd, toys everywhere. Also we live in a contry so all neighbours dog r running on the street, even if i want to go out to our back garden those dogs will run to us nd start bark on my dogs nd some of them will jump on me. so right now im afraid to go out from my house to my back garden because of their dogs. we dont have a gate or fencing. anyone has like a idea for me how i can start this over with a good plan what to do, because i dont want to give thise dogs away i love them to much, but my parents dont so im by myself with this. but iam determined to try it,!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! i just need some plan or tips please help me.

Agreed. I've just posted something similar on your other thread. I don't know why your friend thought that an untrained very young puppy would be able to help your older dog behave but they are wrong... ![]() Also you can't be afraid to go outside with your dogs. They will never get socialised this way and will have serious issues. |

Re: help....pleasse
Does not sound like you have the time or inclination to train either dog to be honest. You have had a dog three years and you just LET IT pee inside? Gross.
Have you taken either to training classes? this is where i would start with them- separately. |

Pixie should have been trained to toilet outside the minute you got her at 4mths, as you have never taught her its wrong she doesnt know any different. It is probably still possible to teach them and re-train them but you are talking about a lot of time a day, and with a college and a job and no one else there who will do it, Im not quite sure how you can do it. You need to dedicate at least 2 weeks ideally 24hrs a day for starters. Even then with no fencing and other what sounds like almost feral dogs coming on the property and no fences to keep your in, then you wont even be able to get let them out in the garden to pee and poop even once trained. To make it really work you would need. 1) To securely fence your garden, so other dogs cant get in and yours cant go out an wander. 2) Take time off or get someone to do it while you are not there. They will need to be taken out every 30/45 minutes to the toilet, you need to stay with them, if they start to pee/poop, then you use a name for it and use it every time they start. Eventually they will learn that name means pooping/pooing and later you can use it to command them when you let them out that they should pee. When they finish you give them praise good girls etc. then give them food treats, to re-enforce that is good and what you want. You need to watch them indoors too, if you see snigginf about, scratching at the floor or them going in circles that means they are looking for somewhere to pee/poop. Get them outsde quick. Also they need to pee/poop after drinking, eating, playing and sleeping so take them out too then. If they have an accident, then dont tell them off, it can make them nervous and not want to go where you can see them, and more likely to sneak off and do it. At night, if they dont sleep all night or pee in the night, then if they walk up take them out too then. For the first few weeks you need someone there to do this if you cant. You need to take them out on a lead in the garden and manage somehow, but ideally as said you need the garden fenced and secure. Dogs will get destructive too, if they are stuck in all day with no exercise, they will chew up things. You need to get them out on a lead and exercise. Walk them at least twice a day. Pup at 12 weeks cannot do a lot of walking she will only need a couple of 15 minute walks, but your other dog needs much more. So you need to exercise them before college work and at night too. If you dont train them to sit and lay down and stay and wait they wont know how to do it. You need to spend time at least 2/3 times a day 15/20minutes at a time, teaching them these things praising and giving them treats when they do it. If you dont know how, there are lots of training videos, websites etc on the Internet and training books to tell you how. Look up some basic ones that tell you how to teach, sit, stay wait and all the basic commands you need and work at them every day. You dogs will learn then and do what they are told if you keep it up. Young dogs and pups need something to chew in the way of their own toys, dog chews and even suitable uncooked bones. If you dont give them their own stuff, to keep them occupied and chew those, they will chew your stuff out of boredom and for something to do. Especially if left alone at home bored and not exercised. You need to work with the two dogs separately too, in toilet training, walks and the obdience training. If you leave them together all the time they will just bond nd amuse each other and wont listen to you at all, so you need to train them at least some of the time alone. Well these are some basic things that, will help you how too do it, questions is have you got the time and commitment and help should you need it to make it work??

Re: help....pleasse
Gotta agree with Phoenix&Charlie'sMum. I don't know where your mate got that idea but a new dog will NOT settle your current dog down. Its just gives her a buddy to run wild with.
This is going to be a huge amount of work, you are basically dealing with two pups who have no training but are closely bonded so you need to ask yourself "Do I really have enough time for both dogs?" I mean really think about it! You are in college and work so are you home enough? If the answer is yes (and an honest yes) then you need to go right back to square one. Start taking your dogs out on leash when they wake up, after meals, after play and through out the day. Treat them like 8 week old pups that have tiny bladders and get a handle on the house training. Crate them seperately when you cant supervise them. Get into a routine of walking the dogs in the morning and evening. You will probably need to walk them seperately given their age difference as Pixi will need far more walking then the pup. Bored dogs are destructive so your pups are clearly begging for some mental and pysical stimulation. Dont forget you have a labX lurcher and a collieXstaffie. Both dogs are mixes of seriously high energy breeds. They need to run! Pixi could probably walk for up to 2 hours and still want more. Here are some good games to play at home to get the brain going as well. Mental Entertainment for Dogs I would also advice you to get both dogs into some training classes. You seem inexperienced so the help of an experienced trainer in vital in this situation. These dogs need you to put your heart and soul into them. No excuses! I wish you luck and I hope its starts to get back on track for you and the pups. ![]() |
