Re: The dogs you meet on your walks

Simba the lab is an ancient boy we meet all the time. His owner is hilarious-80years old and socialises in the woods with her mates on epic walks! He's fab as a 'stooge' dog for Zak who is not aggressive with dogs bigger than him and they just ignore one another. I make a point of looking out for them sometimes so I can have a gossip.

She's friends with another lab owner, massive dog aggressive thing that is now much calmer. She used to drag him away from me (even tho it was only ever Jake he hated) but this weekend, we all met up and I asked her to let Barney off so he and big dog and Bear could meet-no bother at all. I was thrilled! Now she can stop running away from me! She gave me tips on how to deal with Zak's aggression. I just need some more stooge dogs now!

Re: The dogs you meet on your walks

Duke has a very special BFF he's a weimeiner (sorry if spelt wrong) but unfortunately when we had Clover he has been terrified of her even when she was a little pup and even now he won't come anywhere near her.
Poor Duke doesn't get to say hello anymore

Re: The dogs you meet on your walks

Any time I am out (unless its real late) I pass a woman and her large yellow lab. The dogs have never met as at sight of any other dog she pulls him into the side/a doorway/over the road/down a street as he wants to play with all the other dogs and he is really too strong for her (I don't think she is quite 'all there' but she lives in sheltered accomodation for the elderly one of few that allow pets)
I don't have any pics but I think his name is Duke.

On a morning we meet Teal a small springer, she lives 3 doors up from me and is an absolute sweetheart
Here is a pic of her when Xiva was wee

And sometimes we pass (in a sort of fashion) on the way to a field a woman with a springer x collie who she cannot control.

Sometimes in the field we bump into a man with two Very Well trained black labs. They aren't ever allowed to play he puts them in a down stay if he see's another dog.
Or we might meet the 'crazy lady' (she really is rather odd) and her elderly 3 legged lurcher and cross breed who like to tear about the field with mine but I've never had my camera when they have been there.

Re: The dogs you meet on your walks

There is a goldie who lives by me called Brandy- big lump of a dog- but ohhhhhhhh so friendly literally he will plonk himself down until the person/dog/child has said hello- sometimes you even get a "woooooowooooooooowoooooooo" as a hurry up and get over here to say hello to me.

His owners say he is a nightmare to walk as he literally wants to LOVE everyone and a 10 min walk often takes 30!!

Re: The dogs you meet on your walks

Among the many doggie friends Tink has made on her walks. I have a personal favourite old boy. A black and white JRT called Tag. He's a lovely old boy (14) and is out with his mum, who is well into her 70's, everyday. They have a wonderful bond and they are both real characters. He's very dog friendly but doesn't like bad manners and will tell a rude dog off but never more heavily than necessary. His owner has so many stories and opinions to share. I have to say she did make me laugh the day she told me " You are so nice and polite your Mum must be so proud." I'm 39!
