Why cant people see that there are individuals out there that just want to help.
Well good on you for helping hope you hear back from them!

Re: Idea of Fostering....Details From Fosterers?

I had the same idea and was under the impression that the rotty rescues were crying out for people to foster. I sent 2 emails to 2 different rescues and havent heard anything from them so to be honest I am a little down hearted about it now as they obviously arent as stretched as some make out to be.

Re: Idea of Fostering....Details From Fosterers?

Hi,

I have been thinking the same thing about fostering and would love to help the rescue homes by taking in a few elderly cats in the future. I cant at the moment as i have 6 cats in rented accomodation...thank god the land lady lives 2 hours from me

Im going to look into possible fostering over the next year when i move into my own house

I think i may start by forming a relationship with a local cat rescue by donating from my shop and also making some catnip pillows for the lil guys...specially over christmas

I would love to hear form anyone who knows anything more about possibly getting into a fostering programme from personal experience....i will be watching this thread

Yes, iv had that experience with rescue places too. I know they are busy, but someone must check mails, and you think they would be forming a plan in their head as to how to get as many people as possible interested in fostering.

Madness isnt it when you try to do a good deed somtimes!

It really is madness! I even offered to walk the dogs at my local rescue and someone took my details down and never contacted me ... a few times I rang and offered but nothing.

I just dont understand

Let us know if you get anywhere, its a lovely thing we are trying to do.

Re: Idea of Fostering....Details From Fosterers?

Hi All

I got a replay from the rescue about fostering.

Not really that encouraging!

They said they only foster out cats and dogs that are on lifelong medication. The two little dogs I was interested in are to be adopted only, even though they have been there a good month and are getting on in age.

No questions were asked about me, about what i was interested in, how would I be able to help out.....you know, what you may expect to be asked!

So not a 100% helpful....half expected it though!

Re: Idea of Fostering....Details From Fosterers?

Sorry to hear that, are they a small rescue? Mind you some of the ones Ive contacted are quite large, always full etc .... I would of thought any dog would be better in a foster home than a kennel. It begs belief sometimes.

Aw heck, I'm sorry to hear that you'd think they'd be grateful that you (and other people) WANT to help, and are willing to take them in for awhile and offer them some comfort, and to be out of kennel enviroment. madness.

Re: Idea of Fostering....Details From Fosterers?

It it a small rescue, but they still have animals that need homes. You would think that ones that are very sensitive or nervous would be fostered out.

Hey ho, ill keep trying. Ill pop in one day and ask them about it.
Thing with rescue is, a lot of people just go to look, on a sunday afternoon for something to do with no intention to adopt. Its mean on the animals, just like a zoo really.
