Advice on food and treats

Just joined. Picking up a one year old Labrador rescue dog next week. Want some advice on food and training treats. It's in kennels at the moment and on Chudleys but this food doesn't seem very good. Have heard Bakers isn't good either. What do people suggest? Want to buy some training treats too and wondered what people suggest as well.

Thanks.

Welcome to the forum.

Here are two good guides on both dry and wet food:

The Dry Dog Food Index

The Wet Dog Food Index

Hi - welcome to the forum and well done for taking on a rescue dog!

These threads might help you in choosing a good food - The Dry Dog Food Index and The Wet Dog Food Index

As for good training treats you could just use small pieces of cheese, chicken or hotdog sausages - most dogs adore those, or if you want to buy some below are ones that I use and find good

Thrive Salmon Treats For Dogs
Fish4Dogs Super Star Treats 50g - £1.57
Coachies Naturals Training Treats - From £1.13
James Wellbeloved Pure Incentives 25g
Burns Training Treats for dogs | Burns Pet Food

CSJ is good,

It is delivered directly to your door so now carrying massive bags though pets at home! They have lots of different types. If you email ceri and explain about the dog, its age etc.. she will send you free samples.

Re: Advice on food and treats

Thanks for your replies. I have checked out the treats. The vetuk website looks quite good. Have also emailed Ceri and already had a reply suggesting I keep him on Chudleys for a bit. The link to the dry food comparison was good too. I will look at options once he's settled and maybe see what agrees with him.
