Re: How many of you wouldn't do the "puppy stage" again?

Never ever ever would I have a puppy again. I've had 7 dogs now, 6 adopted until now, with 19 week old Katy. I got her at twelve weeks from a rescue. She has caused me nothing but grief since I got her. I have no bond with her at all and I am quite sure its because she's a pup. I have been tempted to give her up, but my problem is, I want her as an adult, I just don't want her now

You couldn't pay me to have another puppy.

I am not that keen on the small puppy stage - I can never wait for them to grow up. But neither do I think an adult rescue is easy and I never feel the same about them either so no doubt there will be another puppy in the future.

Re: How many of you wouldn't do the "puppy stage" again?

Duke was and is always a good boy so never had any problems so would definitely love to have another Duke again from a pup.

Clover was very very hard work it was like having a baby kept waking us up every hour and a half not good when your on nights but she's our baby girl and would always have a pup no matter how hard work Clover was.

Duke has grown into a gorgeous gentle friendly man so 100% worth it.
Clover is growing into a gorgeous, loving (to us) attitude driven girl so 100% worth the lack of sleep.

That soooo made me smile!

I love the adult stage, I love the independance and partnership of an older dog. Pups are restrictive, no long hikes and long days out.
But I do the pup stage again tomorrow given the opportunity, in fact tonight - never mind tomorrow

My wife and I have decided that our next dog will be a rescue, but I would do a puppy again in a heartbeat. The playful nature, the hard work, the house training and energy they have is exhilarating and fun for me.
