A good way is often to ask your vets if they accept direct payment and if they do ask what companies, and get quotes from them. Vets are not going to wait around for ages to get paid and spend time on repeatedcalls chasing payment and quibbling about amounts so likely a good indication.
Make sure though who ever you go with that its a life long or life time policy. There are usually various amounts that you can insure for a year monetary wise, obviously the higher the amount insured for the higher the premium. Ths type of poilcy, however, means that you will have ongoing cover should your pet develope an illness that is ongoing, has an accident with later complications or an illnesss that re-occurs. Each and every year as long as you stay with them the amount insured for will be re-instated in full no matter what claims you have had the year before.
Some policies look like good cover money wise and may seem cheaper, but a lot are only limited to 12mths payout, which means that if the condition is ongoing, you get complications later or it re-occurs after 12mths hard luck no more payouts. Another type is an amount per condition, and there is no time limits, but once you have used up the whole amount in money allocated then again you wont get paid out any more on that type of illness or condition.
Remember too, that anything on your pets records wether previously claimed for or not, before you take out a policy or if you change to another company further down the line, will not be paid out it will be classed as a pre-exisiting condition. So its important to get the right policy from the start.
Its because a lot of people dont do their research at the beginning they often end up stuck and find they are not covered so check it all out throughly before you commit.
