I thought you had to be intelligent to be a vet!

Darn stupid vets sent off the insurance claim without signing the claim form and they attached someone else's letter to the form instead of the breakdown of costs for Shannow. The insurance company sent me the forms back and I had a letter from the vet saying I still owe them xxx amount of money. I took the forms into the vet and showed the receptionist what was missing off the claim form and she said she'd get it sorted out.

This morning I've had the claim form back from my insurance company advising that even though they have now sent the breakdown of costs list the vet has still not signed the form so they cannot process the claim . So now I've got to walk back down to the vets and ask them again to sign the form

You'd presume that with a university education they'd be able to read a letter that clearly advised them they had neglected to sign the form. To think I trust these people to operate on my beloved pets

Re: I thought you had to be intelligent to be a vet!

It was probably the dogs bodies (pardon the pun) who sent the claim off rather than the vet. Still infuriating, but the vet themselves aren't to blame.

Re: I thought you had to be intelligent to be a vet!

Im sure its the receptionists fault, as thats normally their job, your vet may not be a total tool. Make a complaint, mine give me free dog wormer if i'm not happy.

I can see where you're both coming from. I'm just blowing off steam on here so when I go in I don't have to have a row

The receptionist is a fully trained vet nurse. When I said vet I meant all the staff who work there. There aren't any clerical staff everyone is a vet or a nurse. I don't care which one's fault it is I just want them to sort the claim out before I get a letter saying they are taking me to court for the money or they will no longer provide treatment until I have paid in full.

Peace

Sounds like a right frustrating pickle!

Hopefully they figure out how to sign a form and it doesnt come to court summons

Re: I thought you had to be intelligent to be a vet!

Happens in the human world too...

A couple of weeks ago my mum had some blood tests done, she was staying at my house as my dad was away and she's been very unwell. She had not long been back home when the Dr rang and said that one of the blood tests results was a bit worrying and that she may have a DVT. He said that he was going to fax a prescription throught to the nearest pharmacy to my house and I was to go there straight away to pick it up to give her some blood thinning injections. So, as you can imagine my mum got a bit panicked and I went straight to the pharmacy... only to find that the Dr had faxed through the prescription as promised but hadn't signed it! It ended up taking a good half hour of the pharmacists phoning the Dr to try and get a signed prescription so that she could give it to me

It's very frustrating isn't it, you'd think with the number of prescriptions/forms that Dr's/vets deal with everyday that it would just be second nature to sign them!
