Question Phantom Poos

Does anyone else's dog do Phantom poos? two days ina row now poppy has squatted and pooed while out walking, i've seen her do it, got a bag out and walked over to pick it up and there's nothing there! I'm thinking that I'm either going a bit mad or really need to get my eyes tested! People will start to think I am mad as I'm walking round looking at the floor with a poo bag on my hand!
Tell me I'm not alone???

Re: Phantom Poos

Yep Zach does this now n then and the lady I go dog walking with, her springer spaniel does it allll the time, maybe its a spaniel thing lol.

It gets embarrassing because from a distance people will think your dog is pooing and you aint picking it up!

Re: Phantom Poos

You need a poop detector. I had a problem with mine doing this but he wasnt pooing and hes up together with his worming. Took hin to vets he had a impacted anal gland . Vet gave it a squeeze and i almost threw up the smell was unbairable. No wonder it was annoying him. All been fine since and have grooming lady to check him each time he has his make over. I think its common in some breeds.

Re: Phantom Poos

it's a spaniel thing, Poppy has had Gland problems since she was little, she gets them done regularly but she still suffers with it. It's horrible after they've been done, even the car smells for a couple of days of fishy poo!!! Bleurrrgh!

Re: Phantom Poos

You might have just really helped me there, Having bitches, they have killed all our grass in the garden, half our back is decked and next spring I was going to do something drastic with the grassy bit, stones might be an option, at least then if a good under layer is laid they won't kill it with ammonia wee nor can they turn it to mud and tramp it through my Black kitchen floor which show every speck of dirt, although they do like eating stones, not sure how I'd stop that one!!

Apparently a high fibre diet can help glands, the more they poo, the more the glands are naturally emptied!!

Stones are good if you dont have a doggie that eats them. Also be careful dont use to small a stone or the local cats think its there personel litter box....Yuck
