Tips for Introducing new dogs

Hi,

I am after some helpful tips for the above. I have a lovely (Or to me anyway) 7yr Staffi X JRT who I have worked with for since he was 1.5 on his issues with aggression with other dogs and humans. He is now much better still not perfect but better. He has lots of doggy walking buddies and his best friend comes to ours while his owner is away. So large progress for him.

Now my Husband and I have wanted another dog for awhile and now think his training is such to allow this, we found a rescue JRT bitch that had been dumped with in pup, that despratley needed a new home so we took her on.

She has little training and is very excitable, now she is home and there have been no major fireworks, but she is in a crate and he has the run of the house, they walk together on their leads etc and I fully plan to take my new girl to the same training classes I took my old boy to.

However in the next few day's / weeks they are going to have to meet face to face, and I am after some tips for how I go about this.

I am planning on getting a muzzle for each of them, as he is about 4 times her size and if he should get hold of her and want to he will do damage. Is that a good idea? I use food reward training at the mo so all good work is rewarded.

I think both terriers are going to be very Jealous of each other (a terrier trait so I understand it) Is there anything else I can do to make this a success, I don't want the dogs living separate life’s for the new 4 years.

Much appreciated.
