Surely, that is what this thread is all about. The KC ARE trying to stop puppy farmers registering, in a round about way, and trying to ensure all puppies registered with them are from health tested parents? Isn't that what people have been calling for?

Re: The DLRC have started a petition

Despite what any on the 'outer fringes' of the dog world as a whole might think, the KC is not about to go out of business, and Crufts is not about to stop etc etc.

Yes, improvements can be made, yes they are being made, and WERE being made even before THAT programme, which actually had the cheek to use research provided by and funded by the KC to attempt to prove their point.

BUT, the majority of people in the dog world as a whole support the KC and will continue to support it.

After the bbc programme so much is happening suddenly.
Why does the kc has to check all the breed standards and change them? - because they let the dogs come to what they are now and ppl dont like it.

Why does the kc still register byb and puppyfarmers and dont make health test mandatory? - because registered litters by byb mean money and health testing cost money and the money the kc would loose by loosing the byb is too gracious.
By having these powers the money for the kc would be guaranteed.

Its all sad at the end of the day.
You really think that, the KC have been established since 1873,I can't really see them going out of business when the reputable breeders will continue to register puppies with them, registrations have steadly risen, not decreased.

You have questions which can only be answered by the KC ask them.
A rep from the DLRC came onto this thread, plenty of questions were asked, they still to this day remain unanswered, why do you suspect that is ?

DLRC Registered

It seems the KC can't win with whatever option they go with, they are reviewing the breed standards, they plough money into researching specific breed tests, they strike breeders off, whatever they try and do will always get critisized by those who don't have a clue about what responsible ethical breeding is all about.

Many of us have said the KC isn't perfect but what other alternative is there ?
At least they are starting to recognise what ethical responsible breeders want and move in the right direction.

Perhaps its just that i think they are not trying hard enough..in this day and age of technology i'm sure there are ways they can find out if people are reg. lots of litters..dont ask me how as i'm not that clued up with computers.
perhaps every dog, pup, should be microchipped before going to their new homes, then the breeders could be traced..

and no i wasnt saying i saw the pups on pfs.
No it doesn't,it means nothing.
You wouldn't have a clue how the pup was bred would you.

I am trying to say,you will be able to buy DLRC registered pups from pet supermarkets,I am pretty sure you will NOT find a puppy with a KC Reg certificate from any such place.

Why because it is part of the KC's code of ethics which you agree to abide by,when you register a litter with them, any breeder which is in breach of them wll have action taken against them.
The DLRC have no such code of ethics in place.

i understood that.and i'm trying to point out you could buy a pup from a pet store that was bred from kc reg parents but you just wont get the certifcate.

Re: The DLRC have started a petition

When we were looking for puppys before we started breeding there were pups available who were KC and had chats with a few breeders and some bred different breeds, sold the mums on after being bred from, lived in sheds etc. So we obviously stayed away from these breeders.
Also when we got ur latest addition the breeder seemed really nice and seemed to really care for the pups. Since getting her we have sent pics and emails and telling them how shes doing and they havent replied to me.
Seems they arent bothered once the money has been given.
KC has also got BYB as i have met a few in my searches.

Re: The DLRC have started a petition

Seems this thread is going a little off topic and ending up the same as the others about KC or DLRC.
