High vis jackets

Does anyone here use Hi-vis jackets for their dogs?

I was looking into the idea.. Its dark round here and in the winter months with gloomey days sometimes the dogs are not that clear when we are on the common, The dog area of which we have to share with cyclists and nordic walkers() ..

The prices shocked me a bit though, so I went to a cheapy shop and got a human hi-vis and converted it into one for Oscar..
Using the velcro already on it and making new tummy strap from the left overs of the original vest.

It fits and cost me just pennies instead of pounds..

I know I could wear one but this is more about when the dogs are off lead in the mornings or gloomy days..

Im just intersted if anyone else has tried them and if it added to the feeling of safety/visibilty

Re: High vis jackets

neither or mine would entertain the idea of a jacket.....

the eldest has as flashing neon collar my dad got him for xmas a few yrs ago, its fab and can be seen a good mile off if in total darkness, when he lived with my parents he was walked in complete darkness and it was a godsend as you could tell where he was, he's pitch black.

pets at home done them, i've been searching for one for my lad but cannot find them again in my local store.....

i would have worn a high viz vest to walk Bear, however this yr that won't be ideal and Dylan has a fear of high viz and can get aggressive (he was brought into the rescue by a road worker who found him at the side of the dual carriage way, pick him up and walked with him to the rescue, we think this is were his fear comes from)

Re: High vis jackets

Coz Jet is black, I've used a vis vest ever since I got him. I got mine from a pound shop and it's lasted three winters. He can be seen very clearly, (which seeing as the road we live on gets quite busy at night with cars going to the pub) has come in very handy.

Re: High vis jackets

Yes I have used one when foggy. I also keep one in the car as well as one for me in case of motorway breakdowns. It cost me £1 so not particularly good quality but does the job.
