Re: Half inside/outside dogs to fully outdoor dogs
Let me explain my earlier post.
Beagles are my breed and i'm very protective of them
I know the reasons many are handed over to rescues and more often than not it's because their owner didn't research the breed. They wanted a beagle whether they could offer a beagle what they need or not. Lets put that aside for now.
IMO beagles were historically considered untrainable because they didn't respond to the type of training methods like 'pushing their nose in it' so well done for resisting this.
To get the best from a beagle the human/dog bond is crucial. They are not naturally the most biddable but they are bright. Most beagles have bottomless bellies and will do almost anything for a tasty treat (remember to factor this into your feed.) and lavish praise which unusually and welcomely for most men i know this doesn't not need to be high pitched, happy and musical in tone works well. (well they are natural singers)
The house training advice you have received on this thread has been great so i won't repeat it.
My other concern is a bored beagle is often vocal and can be destructive . They are incredible diggers and jumpers. When given little stimulation can become consummate escape artists.
I didn't mean offense earlier it's just my that heart sinks when I read posts like yours.
